yeah cockroach why not. You could possess a radioactive cockroach that could mutate - maybe that's a little crazy. The idea I had for an aim is that in each location of the game - there would be a target 'score' and each sucessful completion of a character's adventure would give you some points when the target is reached another area would be unlocked. Something like that.
The idea is really good. I and some friends were once speculating about making something like this, but with a huge 3d GTA kinda world, and mmo.
I saw your screenshots, and I must say I was a little dissapointed. I thought it was going to be viewed from above, with 8-direction movment. I think that would suit the concept so much better. Would you consider chaging it? I mean, it would make it a little more fun to search for various creatures to possess, don't you think?
Maybe a birdseye viewpoint would be better in some ways. but it would mean changing the engine and scrapping all the graphics, and seen as though the games for peblo's competition, it would set me back a fair bit. The game is gonna be a lot more detailed than in the screenshots (it is only VERY early days) with lots of characters and creatures. Also a birdseye angle doesn't (in my opinon) afford as much oppourtunity for detail. So i don't think I am gonna change it, although it is an idea to experiment with.
Oh, well. I can't really say anything before I've tried it. Good luck, when will we be able to play it (I'm not very familiar with how Peblo's competition works)?
I'll prob release a demo when there's at least two characters each with their own stories to play out. I've not got that much time to spare to work on it in between my band so It could be awhile. But I'm keeping the progress updated on the project's page.
