Traps, Hazards, and back from the mountains

So. Where to begin?

The last two weeks have been really unproductive because I've been on vacation in the mountains and that's what it's supposed to be.

Anyways, I tried to get my "shadows" to work and I'm just not getting anything. Either I'm doing the source code I downloaded wrong, or I'm not using the correct combination of assets. Or I'm not using the correct blending processes or what have you. That means begging on the forums for me.

But all is not lost. Some of the time was spent thinking up nasty things for the player to run into. I've also been in contact with someone who may want to help me with the level design. If he does then he'll most likely be added as a project member. Which will be a first for me since I do most of my stuf on my own. And I'm actually looking forward to working with another person (i hope).

So. Anyways, here's a list of devices that you'll will be faced with to overcome.

*Unstable tile blocks
-These react by falling or raising the player into harms way.

*Doors
-These can be open, closed, or fake! Closed doors are opened with a button. But not all buttons are the right button! Some buttons are fake, others do bad things too!

*Boxes
-Only the green lit boxes are friendly to the player. You can hop into one for safety. Red boxes are for pushing, shoving, throwing, etc. Cranes may not pick up the player. But they will pick up a box!

*Laser turrets
-Death on impact! Though some can be shut off with buttons. But it's best to just shield them off with green boxes.

*Spikes
-Of course, why not? Spikes are on walls, floors, and ceilings. And yes, they all fall/fling towards the player. These are also death on impact. Green boxes, however, are immune.

*Spinners
-Basically ninja shurikens. These move, rotate, alternate, and kill the player on impact. Although green boxes are immune to these spinners as well, however. Did I mention that these can be fake too?

*Bumpers
-You remember those from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Casino night zone stage right? No? How about from those pinball games then? Anyway, bumpers propel the player quickly in the opposite direction he's going. Most hopefully not in the direction of the nearest deadly spike pit. Bumper strength is indicated by varied glowing lights.

*Flippers
-Basically non lethal, flat spinners. They work like bumpers. Only more so like fans. They blow the player towards or away from certain doom. Green boxes are affected by flippers as well.

Oh, did I mention that most or all the objects in the game can be fake? By fake, I mean you go to grab a box, and you can't interact with it. By fake, I mean you are flying towards a spinner, but go right through it, and there's another one coming, but you are impaled by that one. By fake, I mean that you see a maze of tiles, with no concievable plan, and you start to move and fall through some. By fake, well, I think you get the picture. There is also another mode too. One that has to do with the title of the game. But I don't want to talk about that yet either becuase it's not working.

I also have a few more that I'm ironing out. But I'm not quite ready to show those yet. (More specifically, not sure how they work.) But, anyway, that's what I've been up to the last two weeks. I hope to tell you more soon.

Until then, cheers!
