Weekly devlog #3 part 1/2
Posted 28th Nov 09, by HitmanN
I'm splitting this update in two, because I haven't yet decided on a feature to talk about this week. Hmm.. how about you people leave any questions you have about The Bubble here, and I'll reply to them in a day or two as devlog entry? I'm sure there's something you're curious about, right!?

Achieved this week
This week was slightly more productive than the previous one, but overall I think the project is progressing fairly slow currently. Anyhow, this week's accomplishments:
- Finished a new obstacle, an electronic door (see screenshot), which can be opened at a console next to the door once an 'Electronics' skill has been learned. This obstacle is more common in the later parts of the game.
- Finished the 'Electronics' skill, learnable at 8 of Intelligence. This skill can most likely be also used to operate various unique machinery in the game world, such as activating elevators that function as shortcuts.
- Finished 'Criticals' skill (see screenshot), which is a luck based attack enhancement. All attacks have a small chance of inflicting double damage. Learnable at 9 of Luck.
- Various small bonuses to learn from attribute upgrades, ranging from attack bonuses to increased ammo loots, etc.
- Fixed a small bug with throwables.
- Plus some small tweaks here and there.

The good thing is, I'm quickly closing in on the milestone where I can consider the engine, main character and items to be done, and can start expanding the game world. Still got a bunch of accessories to sprite though, as well as need to add one more skill, special item and couple of melee weapons to the mix.

Nice, I'm impressed.

Glad to see you're making steady progress.
Even though I hate people comparing my work to others', this looks like it's turning out to be an impressive Iji-like game.
I just hope it isn't too ambitious for your own good, as you said.

To Ecstazy:
Thanks. That's about the only fear I have, the game getting way too complicated for me to be able to finish it. x3 So far so good though. I've done a good chunk of more stuff during this weekend too.

I'm definitely going to try and focus on perfecting what's already there, instead of keeping adding more stuff, from now on. That should help a bit, I hope. ^^;
