I would have downloaded and played already if I wasn't using someone elses computer today OR if it didn't use an installer.

Ok, here's my opinion.

It's very, very good. I was pleasantly surprised, having developed a loathsome hating of fan-games.

The scrolling needs some tweaking though, Link needs to be pushed into the screen so that his whole body is on the frame. Thats pretty much the only critisism I have, I'm quite looking forward to this.

Yea, I agree with Circy, but I also think that Link moves to fast when you move diagonally. But great job with this, looking forward to it as well.

Yes, I think overall it retained the original's feeling and there was no amateur MMF game vibe.

I gotta say this is pretty well made. I like! The collisions are too fine though which is noticable on the plants. You can deselect Fine Collisions under the object properties.
But yea slowing down Link, pausing his movement between frames (during transitions have the computer shift Link along).
The full game could be really great.
