Things are progressing well. I spent most of the week working on the level editor. Chunks of it were poorly coded and needed to be redone. I also wanted to add a couple of features to make it easier on me to test/load different maps. Needless to say, it all works really well now.
I'll try and get a video of me making a level later in the week so everybody can see.
On the actual game side of things, I finished up a basic map for testing. I'm also in the process of adding the helicopter, which, movement wise, is mostly finished.
After that, I'll be putting weapons firing and swapping back in. Probably something I should have put in first, but better late than never, right?
That's about all for the status update, time for the video! I recommend watching it in high quality.
The most obvious improvements visible in the video are the real animation and the graphics. I've given the helicopter a nice revamp so it looks more like an Appache.
Also, one of my favorite improvements is the camera. Before, it was statically stuck to the location of your character. Now it's dynamic, focusing on a point about a third of the way between the character and the crosshairs, allowing you to see farther out in front of you. It also has just a little lag on it to make it feel more cinematic and natural.
Well, that's all for this update. I'm going to try and make these larger status reports with gameplay footage every Sunday, saving smaller updates for weekdays.
Enjoy the video, everyone, and be sure to let me know what you think!
that is pretty damn amazing what u put out of mmf! i find it very very nice how the helicopter reacts (esp. when u land it!!). the animation of the character is also pretty smooth and real! IŽd love to see one science fictioni feature in this game (like a special movement of the character or so).But this will be a blockbuster game!
