Potentially bad news

Remember how I was talking about that graphics glitch that was ruining everything, and Clickteam *still* doesnt know what it is?

Well, back then I eventually fixed it by reverting to about 20 versions back, and redoing my lost work.

Now suddenly while working on the last bit of content needed for the game, the bug returns. Backdrops are being replaced with player sprites, and stuff is just going CRAZY.

I dont know whats causing it, and Yves hasnt looked at my source .mfa since sending it to him two months ago...

So yeah, this is really, really depressing. I dont think any of the main levels are messed up, but the intro sequence is... I guess worst come to worst I just scrap the whole intro tutorial level.

Ugh...

Aww dude I don't think I can wait any longer for this
Sorry to hear about the problems you're having though - we've all been there I think. Hope you get it sorted!

Bugger I had this problem for a little while.

Did you experiment with HWA at any point with the games .mfa file? I had a little flutter with HWA and went back to software rendering, that's when the bug hit for me but it's magically gone again.

Aww, sorry.

But I assume you keep backups of your work, so don't you have an older version with the intro-level in it? Try copying and pasting that frame into the new version, replacing the messed-up one.

But maybe that won't work. Lulz, just a random thought.
;P

Aww nuts sorry to hear this. Don't be demotivated though, think of the hordes of hungry klikkers waiting to play this game!

We can wait a bit longer, don't rush it out.

Yeah I have about 200 (x5) backups of the files, but it seems like this frame is corrupt and causing some issues.

Heres how it works right now... frame Intro - 1 is the intro cut scene sort of thing, then the player continues onto a short level. About 1 or 2 screens in (so Intro - 3 or Intro - 4) some of the background tiles begin to be replaced by the player's sprite, in random animations.

However, skipping the frame Intro - 1 and jumping right to Intro - 2 seems to have less issues...

I really want to get this done before GDC (which I'm flying out for on friday, eek) so it'd be awesome to have it online, and then maybe think of a patch after I come back.

And yeah, James, I installed HWA back in december, but I actually never opened the .mfa for Bonesaw with it, which is what really is bothering me since Yves claimed that the HWA would not cause issues with the normal MMF2.

CLICKTEEEEAAAMM!!

Ah that issue sounds familiar - do these background tiles have the same name as others throughout the game? If they do, try renaming them.

Mine didn't. I made the background rocks in my game global to make future updates easier, and after a few minutes play and at the start of a new frame it would sometimes replace the backgrounds with the players sprite. Static though.

Like I said it's vanished now. I just carried on making the game and hoping Clickteam would fix it.

Yes

That is, exactly, whats going on. For now, at least. Sometimes I get other bizarro, and more unpredicatable things.

I'm going to make a new post now!
