Twisted Tower Early Alpha coming up momentarily

Early Alpha
After several months of inactivity with the project, I've decided to release the current build of the game as an Early Alpha release. Does this mean the end of the project? I don't know yet, but hopefully not. I was called back to my full-time job last month, and it's been eating away much of the energy I used to have for all this game development stuff, so for the time being there won't be any progress. Maybe after a while I'll feel like wrapping up chapter 1 properly.

Download
I have submitted the game in the 'Downloads' section, but it's still awaiting admin approval.

As soon as it's available, you'll find it there. (I'll also post a link here when I can)

More Info
It is highly recommended that you read the PDF file included with the game, as it explains many of the game's features. Things that are meant to have a tutorial in-game about them, but don't yet. Such as explanations on character attributes, proficiencies, certain objects, etc.

Enjoy!
Have fun with Twisted Tower!

If you like the game and want it to be continued, make yourself heard. Post feedback, tell your friends about the game, and so on!

lol ;p

I left it unmentioned until admin approval, so that people would read the details on the download page first. Buuut since it's taking a while, whatever.

Hey, this is a lot of fun I really like how solid the engine feels. I've yet to get a read about the skills and spell classes, but it looks pretty neat. I also like the interface and the graphics; they all come together very nicely. It's a shame you've decided to pause this game. Why don't you do a kickstarter? Or some pre-buy system to give you some funding?

The only complaint I have is the character movement; she feels very sluggish when jumping and turning around. Some enemies that you have to hop over to hit them on the backside prove to be more difficult than I expect because my sprite doesn't turn around when I tap the arrow key, and I realise I've swung my sword to the other direction.

Congrats, regardless!

Thanks for the feedback.

@Alonso Martin
Turning after a jump definitely needs a little tweaking. Same with turning between attacks on ground. It would probably be best to allow player to still switch direction for a few frames after initiating an attack. At least that'd be the first thing I'd try anyways.

Haven't ruled out Kickstarter yet, but I'll wait for a bit more feedback before deciding one way or the other.

Talking about feedback, I just finished the chapter.
It's one of the most enjoyable games I've played. Fairly challenging with a lot of variety. The engine works well, but I found some bugs with armors' names. Still, leveling and looting is much of fun. And floors generate pretty uniquely.
Although I didn't like music that much. In the first areas it just feels... 'backgroundish', static. However in Gearworks it's perfect, just how it should be.

This game is really worthy to be finished and it looks like you are pretty close to end. If you want more feedback, why don't send it to some indie games site (like PixelProspector)? At current state it's more than enough to show off.

And it's still chapter 1. If making this game requires so much effort, chapter 2 should be commercial or at least you could hand it over to someone just not to disappoint people who want more content.
