new patch.

V98.2 (2010/08/17)
Changed spell combo notation from positional 'DOWN, RIGHT, UP, LEFT' to letters 'A, B, Y, X' (Xbox controller layout).

All characters now have shadows.

When game begins the conversation box flashes for a moment at the beginning of the tutorial.

Minor text errors corrected.

Keyboard controls setup now displays the current configuration.

Menu sound effect plays when a control is set.

In theory this should help prevent as much confusion as possible. Before some people thought 'press UP UP FIRE' meant you had to make your character do a little dance by moving to do a spell. Now its been changed to A B X Y it should be better so long as people don't think they have to literally press the 'a' key on their keyboard'. The new keyboard controls screen should stop that since it is now much clearer.

How will the game progress? Will you go on quests and stuff? Do you level up or get new items and stuff??

We decided not to add items to this game, but to instead focus solely on spells. Time will tell if we over-simplified it, but I can assure you, there will be plenty of spells to learn by the time this game's finished. It will take a long time to memorise them all and even longer to master. There will be quests, and as a reward you will be taught a new spell from them. Although it hasn't been added yet, I plan on adding a CARDS and SPELLS bit to the player menus, so you can see the spells that you have collected. Not only that, but defeating an enemy type will give you a card showing their stats and weaknesses. You've gotta catch 'em all! Heck, we could even make another game where you can compete against other people online using cards that you've collected in this game! Maybe.

One step at a time, at the moment it's just a case of ironing out the bugs then adding more content to the game.
