New Project: Mr. Toast
News posted 24th April, 2011 by Jon Lambert
Guys, everything happens for a reason. What I'm saying is, even though we're all going to miss Planet of Oddballs, I'm thinking that Mr. Toast is going to be quite an awesome silver lining for the rain cloud created by Sinclair's lost hard drive. Over 100 levels of toast running and jumping? I'm in!

A word from Sinclair: Well I'm going to say it now, Poob/Planet Of Oddballs is dead. Gone forever. This wasn't planned, nor my fault for my external hard-drive actually exploded somewhat and my back-up disks got accidently recorded over by my Grandad...so umm yeah. Depressed, I decided I would give up the indie gaming scene and just not bother, until my girlfriend bugged me to make a game about a piece of toast, hence Mr.Toast was born. I've been working on this for about a week and a half, and it's looking good. The whole engine is still being made on TGF1 and then ported to MMF2. (Like Poob) The engine is all complete, it's just a matter of building levels. (I'm aiming for about 100)

Isn't this just planet of Oddballs with toast?

No, because Planet of Oddballs was weapon-heavy, mission-based gameplay. This seems to be more linear platforming than that was.

Indeed it was Jon, however I do have an old engine on a old laptop saved, which I never knew about until I fired the thing up today. Anyway I digress, thank you for the front page! I'm rather far ahead with it's progress at the moment which is nice. Never know with this find of an old engine of Poob, I might just go back to it sometime but for the current time being I'm pushing full steam with this. I'm hopefully also going to buy the SWF exporter so I can export some of it too a flash based game in the near future. Anyway thanks again! I promise, this will be finished!
