New Project: Fishhead Pocket
News posted 6th May, 2010 by Rob Rule
Hayo has posted a new project page for his upcoming title Fishhead Pocket, a Fishhead game that borrows the charming monochrome stylings of the GameBoy era. And with an already complete engine and graphics library, we may not be waiting too long to play the latest addition to the Fishhead ambry.

In Hayo's own words: Fishhead Pocket is a Gameboyesque little platformer. I chose this style so I don't have to worry about the graphics as much. It is based on the old Fishhead games (mainly Fishhead 2) but now I can actually code a tiny little bit, so the gameplay should be a bit more interesting.

It sure does - love the colour scheme, good choices!

So I'm assuming this pocket version will then be released as J2ME for mobile phones?

Three projects now, eh? Well, here's hoping this one is a nice, quick little diversion from the more time-consuming ones.

Since scrolling is a bit of an issue I doubt we'd see a game in that style on a phone... but certainly a "static" screen version might work

I tried it on a phone and it indeed ran like dogshit as soon as it started to scroll.

Cool frontpage! And progress is like 50%. An enjoyable fun little game.

"I tried it on a phone and it indeed ran like dogshit as soon as it started to scroll."

I think MMF apps used to lock up on those old 233 MHz PCs when scrolling. Also locked up when playing MP3s. Damn, that was a long time ago
