Sidebar Updates
News posted 20th July, 2009 by Flava
You've probably already noticed some updates to the sidebar on your left, so I thought I'd write a quick news post to explain the changes. A few of the original links have been moved around and now have new icons, mainly to freshen things up a bit. The biggest changes are those which display your downloads and favourites.

The downloads area currently displays the number of downloads you have submitted, and the number of which are currently pending (ones which have not yet been accepted by an admin). In the next few days I plan to remove the actual downloads counter with a counter which will display the number of new comments submitted to your downloads page (since you last visited it).

The favourites area displays the number of your favourites which have been updated since you last visited them. Currently this is only functional for your favourite projects, however it will hopefully be functional for your favourite downloads soon. This feature will help you keep track of your favourite project's updates regularly.

Thanks to fellow admins Jon and OldManClayton for suggesting these ideas.
If you have any suggestions of your own or bug reports, please post them in the comments. Hope you like the changes :)

Hrm, I'm not entirely positive whether I had a hand in this particular feature suggestion.

They all kind of run together.

Thanks for coding that, Flava, it's quite handy!

All great stuff

Suggestions:
Could you make it so that we can delete some of our favorite projects? Beeing able to see other people's favorite projects would be nice too.

We really need a "sent mail" section.

Not to put on too much on you. And I know some think it's irrelevent. But I was wondering if there'd be a possibility to see how often an item is viewed/ marked as read by user. That'd be interesting to see.

Nice work

If two people work on a game, I guess it would probably be best if they both submit the game to the site so that it can be seen in their profile.

Great work

Great features - while you're updating the site, I really think it would be great to know what product downloads or projects are being made in.

It's really annoying when I see something which I think really pushes the boundaries of MMF/TGF, to find out that it's been made in something completely unrelated.

Is this possible chaps?

When you reply to a mail would it be possible to display the original message above it, or at least quoted in the reply box? Just to make tracking PM conversations easier.

Thanks for the update. This is awesome.

do the favourite project updates work? I'm not sure if they are

Posted by Flava 22nd July, 2009

You can check by going to the favourites page and seeing the date they were updated - if the date is later than the last time you visited that project then it's not working.

I'll need more specific information about the problem though if I'm to fix it - it seems to be working fine for me at the moment.

Posted by alastair john jack 22nd July, 2009

yeah it seems to be working!
I must have opened one of the projects without me noticing before

wish I had that many messages

Great work, very useful indeed! And i would like to second the suggestion Dr James made, if i may, since my memory sux and i do have a fair few pm conversations and tend to forget what i actually said!
