Site Updates
News posted 6th November, 2007 by Clubsoft
I've just uploaded some of the latest updates to the site, a few of the new features include:

- Downloads rating system changed (+favourite system will be added at a later date to allow fairer rating)

All current ratings are no longer used, but may be added on as favourites later.

- New section: Projects

The new projects section is a replacement for the old previews section, projects will allow owners to add members to their project for group projects, allowing them to post devlogs and news updates about their project. Projects will also have their own forum, a private forum which is accessable by project members, and a public forum which is accessable by anyone else. Project forums are moderated by the project members.
The current previews have been moved across as projects, so owners may go in utilise the new features.

- Toolbox for posting on forums

A toolbox has been added to the forums and a few other sections to aid with creating posts, this allows you to select urls and turn them into images or links, or by selecting youtube urls and pressing the youtube button you can now embed a video into posts.

- Images in forum posts are now resized automatically if they are concidered large, and may be clicked on to view in full

- The search box has now been added to the side of all pages to allow easier searching

- Users can now be given tags by administrators to signify various achievments, etc.

- Image tags no longer require a closing </img> tag now.

AWESOME!

Posted by Joe.H 6th November, 2007

K nothing shows up when i click "rate download"

Is something supposed to show up?

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

To rate a download, you tick the rate box, and hover your mouse over to the rating you wish, and hit the add comment button

Posted by Joe.H 6th November, 2007

When I click the tick box, no stars show up.

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

There should already be stars there even when its unticked, if not theres a possibility the javascript file is cached on your end, ive just updated the code so it shouldn't cache, so try now.

Posted by Joe.H 6th November, 2007

I LOVE YOU CLUBSOFT!

Posted by Tim 6th November, 2007

Searchbox should minimize when the form loses focus.. imo

Posted by Spiriax 6th November, 2007

Wonderful.. !
Now maybe the Top 10 Games will change now and then.

Posted by Joe.H 6th November, 2007

Are we supposed to be able to still rate 0?

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

For the moment, yes, but this might be removed at some point

Posted by Joe.H 6th November, 2007

Cool.

You might also want to check Spacefest and clean it up a little

Posted by X_Sheep 6th November, 2007

Image tags already worked without a closing tag if you did it the valid HTML way (so Image)

Posted by X_Sheep 6th November, 2007

I think something messed up. I meant [img src="" /] with the []'s replaced.

Posted by Dr. James MD 6th November, 2007

Posted by CsaR 6th November, 2007

I was still redirected to the thumbs up/down page after having downloaded a game though

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

Whoops, I'll fix that

Nice additions, indeed.

Wow, a great update indeed.

Posted by DaVince 6th November, 2007

WOW.

Clubsoft, you rock.

Posted by DaVince 6th November, 2007

Oh, a suggestion: to save on room in the comments of a download, how about removing the person's avatar (or making it twice as small) and "n/a" if a person votes but doesn't comment? You can then see the person voted and didn't leave a comment, while saving some space for the actual comments.

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

I might do it if becomes a problem, but I would have thought most people will add a comment aswell as a vote, as most of them without comments are re-ratings at the moment

Posted by LIJI 6th November, 2007

Vote with comment is bad.
You need to put a decent reason before rating, so people won't do:
"i hate u so i dwn rted lolol"
or "its hosted on sitesalad and it sucks lololol"

Posted by Rikus 6th November, 2007

Clubsoft you are the King! I love the new updates! Great job i think everyone agrees this rocks and will bennefit everyone

Posted by Ski 6th November, 2007

Can I be the queen?

Posted by LIJI 6th November, 2007

If you're into updates so why not add an Outbox for the DC Mail thing? So we can see the sent mails and if the receiver read the message already.

Posted by Fifth 6th November, 2007

Ah, wow!
The sweet updates, at long last!

Posted by LIJI 6th November, 2007

The new rating system doesn't seem to be implemented in the downloads.asp page.

Posted by Clubsoft 6th November, 2007

It is, but ratings will only appear after a certain number of ratings have been given to try and gauge a more accurate average rating

Posted by Lucas. 6th November, 2007

the project part is rly awesome.

Posted by Bibin 6th November, 2007

These updates are very sex, especially private and public project forums.

Posted by LIJI 6th November, 2007

"These updates are very sex."

Posted by Johnny Look 6th November, 2007

omg my eyes i see shiny things everywhere

Posted by Tim 6th November, 2007

Posted by Fifth 6th November, 2007

So... now what?
Do we flit through the downloads list, picking and rating our favorite games in order to fill in the ratings a bit, or just take the rating system upon the new games as they come in?

Posted by viva/volt 6th November, 2007

Yay new things! This is awesome

Posted by AfterStar 6th November, 2007

Nice and needed improvements.Good work Clubsoft.

Posted by lembi2001 6th November, 2007

Awesome updates Clubsoft. Just seen the post and had to comment before actually checking them out. I like the idea of the projects section a lot!!

Posted by DaVince 6th November, 2007

You can do that if you like, Fifth, though I bet older games will start appearing more if that other "random games of this genre" thing is implemented.

Posted by Peblo 6th November, 2007

I voted for my own game as a test, is that supposed to happen?

Posted by Peblo 6th November, 2007

Btw club, you're amazing.

Posted by Hill Gigas 6th November, 2007

Great changes!

The rating system is good because it makes people accountable and shows who's being a dork and voting "down" for every game he sees.

The Projects section is AWESOME! What a great feature!

Posted by ..:.Phox.:.. 7th November, 2007

great work!!

Da' da' da' da daaaaa! I'm Lovin' It!

Posted by Dustin Gunn 7th November, 2007

the projects don't seem to show up in the sidebar

Posted by Klikmaster 7th November, 2007

Yeah, "Previews" don't work in the "What's new" sidebar

Posted by Clubsoft 7th November, 2007

There we go, fixed

Posted by Nillo 7th November, 2007

Kickin' rad! The new Projects section is really great, and will help organize stuff a lot better.

Some minor things though: Where's the toolbox when posting in the project forums? Also, would it be possible to change the title of a project member from simply "Member" to something more descriptive, like "Beta Tester" or "Artist"?

Posted by Sephirenn 7th November, 2007

You rule dude, awesome update.

Posted by thewreck 8th November, 2007

wow i love all the updates. And i really love the accountability of ratings. Now we know who just rates zero for everything. Also, it encourages people to actually write something when they rate it, giving some sort of reason...

My game spacefest is number one at the moment! yahoo! Mainly due to it being the only game thats been rated though.. heh.. =

Posted by Retired Kliker Lazarus 9th November, 2007

Fantastic updates, Clubby!
