The Weekly Click #10
News posted 1st April, 2007 by Flava
Well, this is the tenth Weekly Click - I didn't really realise that we had already had ten of them. But anyway, here we go!

  • Clickteam have finally released build 244 of MMF2 and TGF2. There have been around six beta editions, but finally all the bugs appear to have been fixed and we can finally get on with game making! Click here to download MMF2 build 244.

  • Neatwares Studio have started up a competition - you need to create a Gameboy styled game, and you can win $50. That could go towards buying MMF2, or something else that you might want.. Click here for more information.

  • Snakesoft sent me some interesting information lately. If you are looking to expand beyond Clickteam tools, then you can try this game development tool called Novashell. It is largely based around scripting - I have no idea if it is new or if it has been around for a while. Take a look anyway.. Click here for more information.

  • It wasn't long ago since there were rumours of a 3D version of MMF hitting the shelves. Anyway, now it has been confirmed, and it looks set to be a big hit. Clickteam have uploaded a page with a feature list for the upcoming MMF 3D. Click here for more information on MMF 3D.

  • Arthur Lee, creator of the upcoming game The Underside, has been interviewed by Planet FreePlay. Click here to read the interview.

  • I tried my best, okay!

    Posted by Ando 1st April, 2007

    Man.

    MMF 3D sounded awesome, too.

    But it cost a whopping $39.99! Can't afford it anyway!

    Planet Freeplay for a game that (I think) costs money. That's what clued me in, although I'm glad there's no MMF 3D lol. You should have said instead that Phizzy was reinstated as a new admin.

    Flava should remember that after 12pm hes the fool if people see his prank, and he has to receive punches by tradition

    Posted by The Chris Street 1st April, 2007

    Yeah well, any more gags in the UK won't work now, as its past 12pm.

    Posted by X_Sheep 1st April, 2007

    More like April Fools' phishing, actually.

    Posted by Silveraura 1st April, 2007

    I actually fell for it for a few minutes until I noticed that the new "case" for MMF3D didn't look real from up close. Very slick Flava, very slick.

    Posted by Plooscva 1st April, 2007

    Yeah, I fell for it at first. A really nice joke to be honist.

    Posted by Superfunk 1st April, 2007

    I'd like to compete in that $50 competition, but I don't have an account at that forum.

    Posted by Plooscva 1st April, 2007

    I gotta admit, the best April Fool's joke that happened to me today.

    Posted by LIJI 1st April, 2007

    So register an account at that forum

    MMF 3D? I don't want it, I love creating 2D games in old editors like Klik&Play, I hate MMF!. I'm joking now! Happy April fools day!

    Interview with pod?.. the poor, sad, egocentric fool

    Posted by Ski 1st April, 2007

    That wasn't the April fool?

    Posted by Tim 2nd April, 2007

    LOL ADAM "~!"

    Posted by DaVince 2nd April, 2007

    Seeing Dink Smallwood on the front page startled me, lol... "Dink Smallwood GOTW!"

    Oh yeah, I got to see the earliest beta of rtsoft's Novashell engine, too. Gonna be cool.

    Posted by axel 2nd April, 2007

    Hah. What's with the "~!" thing anyway?

    Posted by DaVince 2nd April, 2007

    Wait, snakesoft? RTsoft is making Novashell... Or is Snakesoft one dude who just provided information?

    Posted by Joshua M. 2nd April, 2007

    Lol, MMF3D? What a joke

    Posted by Tim 2nd April, 2007

    @axel - WHO KNOWS~? I think it's unnecessary and stupid... *nods*

    Posted by Tim 2nd April, 2007

    Though, looking at that interview, he lacks consistency. Tut, tut, tut. It must be either:

    * used only on special occasions
    * a gay Pod thing
    * sad

    Or a combination of all three.

    Posted by Peblo 2nd April, 2007

    Or none of them even. ^^

    Posted by Jebin Zedalu 2nd April, 2007

    "Neatwares Studio have started up a competition - you need to create a Gameboy styled game, and you can win $50. That could go towards buying MMF2, or something else that you might want."

    Just wanted to comment, here. The game has to be coded in MMF2. Not much sense in buying a second copy, right? ^^;

    Sorry, I take things in a very literal meaning.

    Posted by DaVince 2nd April, 2007

    O RLY? When I look at the guidelines, I clearly see that both MMF1 and 2 are allowed...

    Posted by AndyUK 2nd April, 2007

    they will give participants the rules in an email too to clarify.

    Posted by blanco 2nd April, 2007

    "Brilliant 3D default platform movement"
    If that didn't just give it away...

    Posted by Ando 3rd April, 2007

    @All the "MMF3D is an April Fool's joke, I think"ers

    If the URL of the MMF3D "product page" doesn't give it away, nothing does.

    Posted by Zethell 3rd April, 2007

    lol, you guys are uber fools!

    Posted by DaVince 3rd April, 2007

    Woo

    Hey, I only notice now that the joke was hosted on the clickzine!

    Posted by Tim 3rd April, 2007

    LOL!! Just a little bit of a give-away that one.

    Posted by X_Sheep 3rd April, 2007

    It would've been funnier if it were hosted at clickzine.net/eng/mmf3d.php. That'd make it look more like an actual Clickteam link ;P

    Posted by alastair john jack 10th April, 2007

    I just realised it was an april fools joke. :/
