New Tidal Wave of Controversy - I'm OK
News posted 9th February, 2006 by David Newton (DavidN)
There haven't been many front page updates recently, but I recently found they were largely due to a PEBKAC error and have resolved to restart them.

Raincoatduck has submitted a game that was a collaboration between a number of people from the game making community - it was made in response to "anti-game crusader" Jack Thompson's proposal released a few months ago. It's called I'm OK, and as far as I can see, fills most of the criteria specified. (In case you don't know the full story behind this, a copy of the proposal in Word format can be found here.)

Comments from the Author: We'll admit it - when we first heard about Jack Thompson's "Modest Video Game Proposal", we thought it was just another lame attempt by a humorless old man to bring undue attention to himself in order to try and make up for a wasted youth and failing career. Little did we know that "Whacko Jacko" had laid out the blueprint for the seminal game of our generation - a game so gory, so brutal, so devoid of logic and morals that it would make Postal 2 seem like Ms. Pacman.

As you might expect, the result is definitely not for the faint of heart or stomach, but I'm immensely proud that MMF is leading the way in taking up the proposal. Where's that $10,000 reward for them, Mr. Thompson?

"A number of the team over at Natomic have put together a game in response to "anti-game crusader" Jack Thompson's proposal released a few months ago. It's called I'm OK"

I don't know about Natomic, but Derek Yu was in it for sure.

Didn't Jackee say that the game should be sold?

"Manufactured" i think was one of the terms used.

Ah, right.

I read the proposal doc.

...

Damn.

So burn it to a CD and put it in a box. Thompson never specified any number of units that had to be shipped.

Just wanted to say that no memeber of Natomic had any part in the making of this game. Full credit should be given to Derek Yu and the Leakypig kids. I just put up a mirror on Natomic for them to use since we haven't released a game in a while and if we don't use our bandwidth it will be gone, because it doesn't roll-over to the next month.

Ah, so just as well it was pointed out to me earlier, then. Sorry about that.
