Mina Of The Pirates CANNED
News posted 25th January, 2006 by The Chris Street
Yes folks, it's true. Zerotau has abandoned his three(?) year project Mina Of The Pirates. Ok, so he's started work on a new game called Noitu Love and the Army of Grinning Darns, but... poor Mina.

***sniffle***

I hate this guy.

He should die painfully. *Sigh* Looks like I'm going to have to get the mob together again. *grabs torch and pitch fork*.

The site is down.

Posted by CYS 26th January, 2006

This is Horrible!!!
I've been waiting for years!

Posted by Yai7 26th January, 2006

Not really a lost, Since it's fun to trust on yourself instead of others, All of you can always make a better and nicer game than that... Since when we compete for what's good or not?

Rikus, please take these star system off, and put a sort of another system, dependable on member's atitude in creation... More multidimensional... Since I can't code it alone here, you see... I'm a miserable person who can't get into your system and hack it, I don't know coding too...

Anyway, You can all sure make another project, what makes you feel so disbelief?
Regard your untrusty pal, Nastyman... We got our hand to belive that we can't do it, just because he's a dragon and wer'e not... Heh, My fav tunes are the best if I don't belive to the dragon who claims that his flame is by the car that he own...

Sucker, It was the flame who gets you that car...
As the author gets high again, he can finish this game in a bing!

Feel a dragon, be a dragon! =

Pardon?

Posted by pixelscope 26th January, 2006

Come on. Don't pick on the poor fella.

Posted by CYS 26th January, 2006

A system to judge on a person's attitude in creation? I believe even the best programmer can't do that.

Posted by Johan Hargne (Wartagon) 26th January, 2006

well NastyMan has always been a litle weirdo with all these.. well basically, weird comments that no one ever have, or ever will understand.

Posted by Hayo 26th January, 2006

hmm nastyman is not even funny..he is pretty much a pointless person.

Posted by Yami 26th January, 2006

NastyMan said, "All of you can always make a better and nicer game than that..."

I seriously doubt you know what your talking about. Considering you said you suck at programming; however, that should be proof that not everyone can make a good game. Like others this was one of the only click games Ive been waiting to play. It would be nice if Zerotau released the game anyways for the people who wanted to play the game. :/

Posted by Ski 26th January, 2006

Nastyman is a brilliant person. He is a posative spirit always willing to make music for me... even if phizzy did say it was out of tune

Posted by Retired Kliker Lazarus 26th January, 2006

I have this image of nastyman cracking up as he wrote that, saying 'OMG THIS IS SO FUNNY'.

Posted by AndyUK 27th January, 2006

Were you spying on him then?

but it's a shame that it's cancelled after all this time. There must be a reason for it, but does anyone know it?

Posted by GaspyConana 27th January, 2006

Stop being mean to Nastyman you morons. He's the coolest one here.

Posted by Johan Hargne (Wartagon) 27th January, 2006

Yeah for sure..

Posted by axel 27th January, 2006

shut up, NastyMan rocks thy socks!

Posted by Liquixcat 27th January, 2006

Don't pick on the poor fellow? Who are you? HAHA

If I remember correctly Faind doesn't really work on games anymore. They are more of the 'Legend', well that is from all you ass kissers that wish you could be them.
They haven't touched some of their projects in months and months.

Posted by bernie[FA] 27th January, 2006

Liquixcat: You're both wrong and right. We are always working on games, but some projects don't get done because we lose interest in them, like Mina or Skyhammer.

Posted by Spram 27th January, 2006

Aaahhh!

The link to faind.com doesn't work so I can't see the other game that's being done, but...

Can he just realeased what he has done and let us finally play it after years of cockteasing?

Posted by AndyUK 27th January, 2006

How can you guys be sure you'll never regain any interest in the games?
I know i always go through rather dry spells whilst making my games. Sometimes it's a matter of months before i pick them up again.
But to announce total cancellation will only give you more reason to not pick it up again.

Posted by Ski 27th January, 2006

Nastyman will you marry me?

Posted by 27th January, 2006

whats mina of the pirats ive never herd of it. is it good!

Posted by X_Sheep 27th January, 2006

The site is brokened.

Posted by Imadjinn 27th January, 2006

This looked to be the Godliest of the Godly Games of Freeness... The last update stated that it was 90% complete... And now he says it's been cancelled for something with a really bizarre name? And the site vanishes too?

I say it's a hoax just to piss us all off... At least that's what I am hoping, for this has genuinely shattered me.

Posted by Liquixcat 28th January, 2006

It's not a hoax, I know people that have played Mina. It exists, perhaps an abandoned release though?

Posted by AndyUK 28th January, 2006

I think he meant the abandonment is a hoax to hype the game up. However that serves little purpose given that it would have been freeware if finished.

Posted by Imadjinn 28th January, 2006

Nah, not for hypage, just for piss people offage...

Couldn't he just release the unfinished article if this is indeed the real deal? Streambolt wasn't completed and that's spifftastic.

Posted by bernie[FA] 28th January, 2006

Zerotau doesn't want to release Mina, you'll have to accept that.

Also, the 'trying to piss people off'-theory makes no sense at all.

Posted by DaVince 28th January, 2006

It sounded good. Too bad...

Posted by Imadjinn 28th January, 2006

I fail to see the logic behind spending however many years on something then giving up at the end... Fair enough at the start or even half-way but that's just odd.

And to drop it for another project is even more bizarre.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 28th January, 2006

Umm, no it's not

Posted by hishnak 28th January, 2006

I do it all the time...just nobody hears about it. This was a bit extreme though.

Posted by Radix 29th January, 2006

It's perfectly understandable. When you've got an unfinished project from a year ago, you know you've advanced by a year and could be working on something that much better.
Or, whatever. It's his decision.

Posted by konjak 29th January, 2006

(this is Zerotau)

No, there will not be an abandonware. And I stopped working on the game because I couldn't bear with it anymore. Working on it was a pain and I had lost faith in the project, and this is my decision because I'm not appealing to a paying audience anyway, this is my hobby.

Even though I said 90% was done, it was still meant as the bulk of it. Even if I had exactly 90% it's still a damn lot to do. After that I still had a town to finish and prologue and like a hundred small things. It was a bad engine to work with, and the game turned out not to my liking.

I'm still very much in love with the game I'm doing now after having worked on it for a long time. I started disliking Mina early on. So this feels more right to me.

Posted by Aptennap 29th January, 2006

too bad,but that other game is mabye even cooler
and the faind site doesnt work

Posted by alastair john jack 30th January, 2006

well I'm glad you're working on something that makes you happy

Posted by Jason Orme 30th January, 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Posted by Broomie 30th January, 2006

Although it's sad since the game looked good, I have to respect Zero's decision as it's what he wants to do. We can't force him to work on something he won't enjoy making it. I can't see your website at the moment but I'm sure the game looks awesome and cannot wait for it after seeing what you can do with Mina.

Posted by Muz 2nd February, 2006

If I know ZeroTau, there's little chance of him giving it out as abandonware without some legal backup .

Anyways, I kinda expected something like this. Mina seemed pretty above average to me, like Commando.. another tiring game a person spends years on (or at least a couple of 5 hour shifts per month), only to realise that he doesn't understand the poorly commented code after a week. Another game that's probably collapsed under its own complexity. The next MMFs better do something to help us read our annoyingly long event lists more easily .

Posted by Muz 2nd February, 2006

Oh, wait, the konjak guy said that already. I should read all the comments first . Another case of dumping the chick you've been with for years for the new chick you know nothing about .

Posted by Hamish M 2nd February, 2006

I can understand my poorly commented code just fine you gimp

Posted by Peblo 2nd February, 2006

Fine.

Posted by Hempuli 2nd February, 2006

NOOOOOOO *sniffle sniffle*

Posted by m. collar 4th February, 2006
