Supanova 2004 - Brisbane
News posted 6th July, 2004 by ShadowCaster
Some of you may remember a post I did around this time last year about an event called Supanova in Brisbane, Australia. Well, it was such a massive success--with tens of thousands of people attending over the weekend--that it will be back again this year September 18 and 19 at the RNA Showgrounds.

Whether your into anime, computer/console gaming, comics/manga, sci-fi, or pretty much anything else, be sure to check out Supanova this September.

The pictures on the left show just 5 of the special guests that came from overseas to participate in seminars, signings, and more last March at the Sydney event.

This year, if you're into Film and Cult TV then you'll want to see John Rhys-Davies ("Gimli" from Lord Of The Rings), John Noble ("Denethor" from Lord Of The Rings), Paul Goddard (From The Matrix and Farscape) and many more.

If you're into Animation then you'll be interested in seeing Stephanie Nadolny ("Goku" from Dragonball GT), Wayne Greyson (From Yu-Gi-Oh! and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) plus heaps more.

If Comics is your thing, David Finch (Artist from Ultimate X-Men and Avengers), Glenn Ford (Artist from the Phantom) will be attending, and too many more to mention.

If you're interested in attending, or would like to help out during the event, check out www.supanova.com.au or send me an email and I'll get back to you with details.

Remember, the event alternates between Sydney and Brisbane, so if you live close to either city, then be sure to check it out next time it comes around. See the website for more information.

Who's the fitty in the middle?

Posted by Deleted 6th July, 2004

hmm this is definitly klik related. it's nice that you assume that everyone who visits here is as much of a nerd as you are.

lol

He's not a nerd, he's a Socially Deprived Person

Uh, if you guys were going to complain about the quality of news posted here, might it not have been better to start a few years ago? Jackasses.

That is true.. i guess we all have eggs on our faces now. :)

Man, ShadowCaster, the only reason you ever come back to TDC is to make people's accounts "disappear" and to advertise NerdCon 2004.

Posted by ShadowCaster 6th July, 2004

Both vital duties ;)

You know, there are 2 things I find funny about this. The first is people calling me a nerd, as though it was something hidious, while they're visiting an amateur programming community. The second is no one cared about the ads being displayed on every page, but this one news article that people can just choose to ignore once and wont appear again makes you annoyed, hah @_@

Posted by ThePodunkian 6th July, 2004

The first is that because you consider both amateur game programming and NerdCon 2004 to be equally nerdy doesn't mean there's any reason for you to put them together. As far as I know, Quantum Physics is pretty nerdy too, but that doesn't mean you have any reason to report that crap here. Secondly, see the difference between the annoying ads and your NerdCon 2004 post is that whereas Google ads find keywords in the page and TRY to be relevant, your NerdCon 2004 crap comes out of nowhere, therefore putting you at a lower relevance level than a computer bot. Great huh? P.S. I'd much rather have Google ads on the bottom of every page than to have you post every one of your nerd dwarven elf cosplay fantasy outings.

Of course nothing against shadow, i think he is cool:) Look i can understand, that shadow is a very active member of Supanova himself and wants to share the greatness of it to everyone here, fair enough. What bugs me is that the news post is just to big for someting non-click related. I can understand that every once in a while people want to post something non-click related and you know.. why the heck not? Its funny most of the times and it gives us a break buttt in the case of supanova, the news post last year got many bad replies, so why put it there again this big, i think it would have been better to make it half its size and put the full story on the forums and link to it from the front page. This way the whole thing in my opinion does not feel so pushed to ya. Anyhow, i just want to say again i'm not trying to be mean or anything with shadow its just hopefully good constructive criticism maybe for a next time.

'Whether your into anime, computer/console gaming, comics/manga, sci-fi, or pretty much anything else' This could be summarised as 'if you are a nerd'. I guess I should get tickets then.

Well, I was at Supanova. Carradine seemed pissed off, and a fat guy in a beret wouldn't shut up the entire time. Which made Carradine even more pissed off. And the only questions people were asking were all things they'd read in an article in the paper on the preceding weekend.

Hahaha this reminds me of that Simpsons episode with that fair they goto at the start of the episode they has like Mark Hamill and all Star Trek stuff in it. Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con.

no one answereed klikmasters question. who's the fitty in the middle?

Posted by ShadowCaster 7th July, 2004

Radix: Yeah, carradine was a bit up himself, hehe. I dont know who the guy in the beret was, though? KM/Zane: The "fitty" in the middle is Xenia Seeberg. She's been in quite a few things both on TV and in film, but I think she also does a lot of modeling. Some photos from her website are here: http://www.xeniaseeberg.biz/cgi-bin/Public/photoGallery/Summary.cgi?id=33&series=1

Beret-man! was sitting directly in front of me, during the Carradine q&a on Saturday. He was kind of like a 50ish Comic Book Guy. And a major pain in the ass.

Posted by ShadowCaster 8th July, 2004

LOL cant say I saw him, but then again I dont get a lot of time off during Supanova cos I'm volunteer coordinator so I'm working pretty much all the time :( :)

WTF? last i checked shadowcaster joint-owns this site. he can post whatever he wants. if he chooses to post this, dustin, podunkian and brad, who the hell are you to judge? just sod off if you don't like it. no one's forcing you to come here.
