Action Sprite Pack
News posted 12th June, 2003 by Mitch M
Addictive 247 made a nice, greatly pixelated action sprite pack! The graphics are top-down as done earlier in "Laser Squad" and "Alien Breed!" It counts more than 100 sprites with high quality, sprite after sprite! Some special features: 4 fully animated characters (2 goodies 2 enemies), Explosions, backgrounds, powerups, opening doors and tile sets! Everything you need to make a quality game! Find info on how to buy this MMF 1.5 sprite pack for $9.99 on this site!

Yeah I totally agree! U get it really bad for using other peoples sprites or ripped sprites. One person said "Does your game contain any ripped sprites coz I dont touch em if they do"

I would wait untill the MegaFusion CD from Clickteam will be released. That one has 100's of animated characters, lot's of backgrounds, spaceships and much more and will be a lot better value for your money.... That cd will have over 1000 sprites.

I don't understand why people think of using sprite packs as cheating. Major software firms use graphic designers to design the graphics for their games. Essentially they are creating "Sprite Packs" that the programmers can use in the game. Many people are good at programming but not so good at art. You don't see programmers of development companies also designing the sprites!! It makes good sense (and good business sense) to use someone else for your graphics if you are not that artistic. I see many posts on the ClickTeam forum and here where people are asking for graphics help. This is one way to help. I think it is getting really childish when people start saying "We'll rip you for using other people's sprite packs". The people who hire graphics artists or use Sprite Packs because they want to concentrate on the programming side of things are displaying good common sense. It's better to concentrate on what you are good at and get help with things that you're not. I'm not very artistic so the sprites in this pack where actually created by somebody else. The work they did for us was paid. However, we are not going to be able to use the graphics as the game will never be completed, so why not pass the sprites onto other people so they can make good use of them?? Right, rant over.

to pay 9$ for tons of good graphic for your game might be acceptable. but when other ppl is gona use the same graphic and u dont have the orginal copyright to it, then its not even good to use it for free

Why would you need the original copyright for the graphics if they are royalty free graphics?!? There are so many websites that sell art, meshes, backgrounds and sprites etc which means that there will be a large amount of people using exactly the same graphics - This is exactly the same!!

addictive247 can charge what they like for them, they have every right, as they paid the creator good money for them. ( i personally have seen all this because i just happen to really good friends with the creator ) - i think the sprites here on offer are worth it and high quality (unlike other libs i've seen.), if you need this type of thing and struggle with graphics - go for it. i can see the point that some are making, by 10-50 people may have the same sprite, but hello - what the hell is a library included with mmf/tgf for? how many lib graphics have i seen in games. I still occassionally grab a lib graphic myself, whether you may want to tart it up later, it upto you.

However, some people don't want to be a decent spriter, they want to concentrate on their programming skills - this is not only related to newbies.

I didn't miss that point, but I didn't think that most people could afford to hire a graphics artist, so using sprite packs is a good solution. You can always alter the graphics slightly so they are more how you wanted them. I don't see a problem with other people using the MMF Library. I think it's a good resource that not enough people use. I think that people don't use them as they are scared of getting ripped in forums or sites like this. It just seems lately that everyone is out to bash a newbie or flame someone for not having original graphics. If somebody in the Click Community created a game that had amazing gameplay that you just couldn't get enough of BUT used graphics from the libraries then they would get ripped instantly. Some people don't want to look past the graphics and see the game for what it really is.

1)Most MMF library graphics don't match with each other! 2)Is best to courage people make their own graphics! I would prefer to see a game with bad but original graphics rather than a game FULL of ripped GFX! People must experience in all parts of the project(programming, desing, organizatione ect.) Then you know you tried and be proud of your game! 3)In spite of all above,i have to agree that Marc Georgeson has a point, because if its not the GFX,its the Music&sounds! I know that good Music&sounds are very hard to create and that goes the same for GFXs,so if you complain about ripped GFXs why don't you people complain about ripped Music&sounds? 4)Of course pay $9.95 for just a few sprites is not very fair!Buy a good game for &9.95 like eternal daughter then yes!

encourage not courage!

I wouldn't call over 100 sprites 'a few sprites'. I think this thread has gone far enough really. It would have been nice to have chatted to people about the gfx, who created them, which game they were meant for etc, etc but as always I feel let down by the comments posted here.

thats because you have people who think they are talented and are not.
