New Admin!
News posted 24th April, 2003 by ShadowCaster
It took me a while, but I've decided on who the new admin is going to be. But first let me just talk a little about what I was looking for in applications and where people went wrong.

First of all, the job is to find information about games within the community. I know 3D Realms is a popular company site, but as far as the job goes, listing that as one of your sites wont get you very far; I was looking for Klik sites only. A couple of people listed 3drealms.com, download.com, and other sites like that, which is not what I was after.

Secondly, I said to keep your articles brief. I left this up to your own interpretation as to what would be considered brief, but three pages isnt brief by anyones standards. Your job will be placing news on the front page, I dont think any visitors want the front page just taken over by endless text (perhaps I'm wrong?)

Thirdly, I didnt specify I wanted your article to be on any particular topic, but it's a good idea to submit something that will be kind of like what you will submit to DC when you become an editor. The job description is to go and find news from the community and report on it (I think I said that four or five times) so the best thing to do is to go out and find some news from the community and report on it :)

Finally, I had a snake in my room last night and that was scary. We're always getting snakes or deadly spiders in this place, so if your are a snake or a deadly spider, watch out because you will probably lose your life.

So I after whittling it down I came up with a name... I'd like you to congratulate Aku (also known in real life at Mitch)! Yes, even though he reported on a game by FAIND, his article was the best of the bunch

So, after I send him the email with all the things he needs to know, I'll increase his privelages and get him to make a "hello" post to you all.

~Mike

I said that you dont need to know anything about HTML and I'd show whoever gets the position the basics if they dont already know. I'm not too worried about that sort of thing.

Aku: http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/html_cheatsheet/index.html is quite useful, you just put things you want to be affected between the tags (apart from images, you dont have an end img tag), like put the text you want to appear in the link between the tag, and the text you wannabe bold between the and the tags :)

*Slowly, Red Eye, clicks the shut down button on his computer and returns to his never ending, shelves upon shelves of books in his library. Slowly, he sighs, as he returns to another book and longs the day of being an admin. Being free from humanity. Being naked from pain... being born again.*
