When I send people files in msn it says "If you are experiencing a slow transfer rate, click here to find out why."
Well I did and I still don't know how to fix it. Can anybody help?
Thanx.

See all that porn you're downloading? Stop. That should speed up your transfers

But seriously, if you're downloading or uploading something at the same time it's obviously going to slow down any other transfers. Close any file sharing programs you have open (even if they arent currently downloading anything, as it still uses your connection).

But you can only fix the problem on your computer. It's obviously limited also by the person you are sending the file to. Some connections have fast downloads but slow uploads, for example, so even though you may be able to receive a file at, say, 25kbps, the person who is sending it to you might be on a 56k and only be able to get 2kbps uploading.

I know when I'm transferring files between friends, since we all have ADSL, we get pretty good speeds. However if I'm at uni and sending someone a file (since my uni is an ISP transferrs typically go at several megabytes per second) transfers to my friends go slower than expected because even though I can send the files extremely fast, their connections are limited in this circumstance.

yeah, also, you should both check your firewall settings and make sure msn file transfers are working unheeded. or just turn your firewalls off briefly.

Do you have cable? Cable upstream is slow.

Thanx Pete it was the firewall in network connections, we both turned that off and the file went speeding through, well what ever it goes through I guess. So thanx.
