I've noticed that a LOT of people just seem to go with the idea that they can do anything they want online just because "It's not like I'll meet them in real life anyway. They're just illusions."

Personally, I've met a *LOT* of people from the net in real life. Me and my best friend used to pull hoaxes on IRC. My first date (in real life) was with a girl I met on IRC (who coincidentally lived only half an hour's walk from here). Heck, I've met a lot of people in real life who go "Hey, you're than idiot Muz I saw on IRC/TDC!" I've even got a few calls from people whom I've given my phone number but never expected them to call.

Well, I haven't met anyone from the Click Community yet, but I live about half an hour from a clicker I met. And before you ask, I don't stoop myself to those "asl" thingies over IRC. It's just chance that I met some of these people. I'd regret pissing some of them off, but most people I've met are a hell lot nicer in real life than on the internet.

I've met a lot of people online first and then in real life, but all of them were from my Uni's message board and chatroom so we knew we would be somewhere near each other anyway.

I meet a few people in more than one community on the Internet, though, which means that I don't spend enough time in the real world.

People are nicer in real life because on the internet they say what they think.

Dumbass. (What, you think I wasn't going to back it up?)

That's what makes the internet more fun than real life.

Um...I've met friends of mine from real life on the internet before(but I met them in real life first.)

I haven't met anyone from this forum...although I don't live far from Shadowcaster!

I've met a fair few people from forums, ICQ, and MSN in my time.
Why just recently I went on a pub crawl in Sydney with a few guys and gals from a forum, one who we thought was a 15 year old guy...boy weren't we suprised...

No, I have never had someone walk up to me and say "hey, your the guy who posts at the Daily Click with the Coffee machine avatar, right?". If that did happen it would be extremely weird to say the least. Apparently Muz has had this happen.... Uh right. The only way your going to meet your online friends in real life is if you set up a meeting.

99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.

crazily enough, klikmaster was talking to me on MSN a while back and said "hey, do you go to poole grammar school?" sufficed to say i was pretty taken aback as that's the school i go to. so it transpired that he'd seen my name in the school newsletter and is actually in the year below me. small world eh?

but i've never met anyone from a forum in real life; delibrately anyway.

I had two Clickers in my year and didn't know it. It only transpired when one got my email address, asked if I made Starfish Games, and then said (and I quote) 'Wow, so it is you you're nearly as famous as tigerworm'. (He meant Tigerworks :/)

I've met about a quarter or so of the people in a guild I was in while playing Everquest. We wanted to put up a get together around where the guild leader lived.

And I've also met a slew of ladies from dating sites who I chatted with for a long time before we finally decided to meet up.

And then there was this time two winters ago. My room was for some reason being infested with box elder beetles, and I would find at least five buzzing or crawling around my room every night. One night after catching and smushing all of them I heard this knocking at my window (I live kind of downstairs where half of my room from the ground up would be covered in earth). It was really late at night, probably after midnight, and I honestly thought it was some giant super mother bug that was out to get me to avenge the death of all the bugs I had squished and killed during the winter. But it turned out that it was really my older brother trying to introduce me to one of the lady friends he knew from Everquest that was passing by the area.

Ah, things that go bump in the night... too bad I never got to meet her. I had to wait until the next day to find out when my brother told me.

I meant I met someone who met me from the DC in some chat room, but haven't actually met a clicker face-to-face. I was wondering how long it would take for people to notice what I said. DC-ers tend to really read only the first and final line before replying, then go back and edit their messages .

Dr. Evil Face:
I think it's also coz most people take things too seriously online. Offline, you can easily tell when someone says "you're a fucking idiot" as a playful jab. Online, such words, even when they're obviously sarcastic, very easily lead to flame wars.

Mr. Coffee:
I really did once meet a guy in real life from the internet at a debate competition at another school. He had such poor speaking skills that I was suprised that he was actually the guy I know. No meeting was planned, but people I meet offline can recognize the Muz part of my name along with my strong support of Click products over VB/Macromedia products .

Chris Branch:
Amazing how people you meet in real life think that you're much cooler than you really are, eh? People I know offline think Invasion of the Muz is far superior to most games they could ever think of making (but they use VB). I remember when people actually bookmarked/memorized my crappy old site. ( http://dme.mirrorz.com )
