I've always been interested in 3D Modeling. But the thing is, I don't know how to use them, let alone the MMF one. I have the IMSI TurboCad 3D Modeler. Can anyone explain How I use this let alone put them in my games (Like War In Somalia, hmmm I just advertised this AWESOME Game)? And if you do explain, could you explain it as if you were explaining it to a kid with half a brain and drools (Also know as a Newbie)?

-Cheers

There isn't a 3D modeller in MMF, it's 2D all the way. The 3D Object in MMF sucks.

Anyway, it's not easy to just pick up a 3D program with no knowledge and make something decent in it. I spend 2 years in college learning 3D design, and still suck at it.

Anyway, I'd say it's best to check out tutorials on the net, and I'd reccomend using 3D Studio MAX (although ShadowCaster would disagree.) There are some easier modellers, such as Milkshape3D http://www.milkshape3d.com.

I've never heard of it. That Milkshape3D one is good though, easy to use, and most importantly, free.

You can download Maya PLE for free, which is the software used on most films including Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, Shreck, Monsters Inc, and lots more. www.alias.com

3D Studio Max is the way to go if you're just getting started. It's the easiest to learn and is arguably one of the more powerful modelers on the market. The student edition is $500, which is pretty hefty, so make sure you know what you're getting into.

Hmm...the only program I'm good at is Valve Hammer Editor and that's for making levels/maps for HalfLife, not for modelling...does anyone know of a program that's similar to hammer editor, but for making characters in ?

To make HL characters and any mod related, you need Milkshape3D. Nothing like hammer because that is a level editor. Btw I wouldn't Mind seeing some of your maps, I'll send you one It's not that good though cause It's my first and only. And The Modeler I have was last time I checked was worth a little over 1000$ so I think I'll put it aside and Use something eazzzy!

I still recomment Anim8or though. Gives me the best resaults in less then 10 minutes. This would let me work more on a nice flawless game with great looking graphics. I also love Anim8ors flexabilty, Scene editor for stuff like game intros & backgrounds, & Figure/Sequence editor to make objects animate while in the sence editor. Not to mention all the free examples & tutorials on www.anim8or.com.

An old account of mine, recently cleared out. It's a blast to the past, the age was marked as 14 when I found it. If you know where to look, you can track me. Au revoir.
