It seems that everyone is freaking out about this whole situation. Schools are closing, stores are being emptied out, it's just crazy. Since the COVID-19 has reached Colorado (where I live), my campus will close next week which means I have to take online classes now.
It's just crazy what has been happening for the past couple weeks, and that's not the way to start a new year. So all I can say is stay safe, make sure you wash your hands constantly, don't travel, and just stay home and continue on with your life.

Yeah, it's a bit scary. But the virus only affects people that are old or have serious conditions like heart disease. So I think I'll be okay, but I'm worried about my mom because she has a weak immune system, but I think me and my family will be okay. But on the topic of school, Florida canceled school for an extra week. So yay I'm going to have a two-week spring break, which more time for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and game development! So I'm happy about that, but I'm concerned how we're going to make up that week and I'm also concern that if it gets worst, they're going to cancel school. And I don't when or maybe if I'll graduate from High School and Tech College.

Yeah as long as were fine on health, we should be ok. I hope your mom or anyone in your family doesn't get infected. Let's just hope all of this will be sorted out soon.

It is quite crazy. I am a highschool teacher and happen to live in one of the few European countries not to close the schools, as it would mean people who work in health care have to stay at home to take care of their kids. I am really hesitant to go to work tomorrow, I am not too scared about my own health but I really don't want to spread this to other people.
The upside is we have a hobby that forces us to stay indoors anyway

I'm not too worried or expecting it to have too much of an impact on me personally, unless it drags on well into the summer.
My girfriend's mother had to cancel her visit from Sweden, as she's in quite poor health already, and the airline she'd booked a flight with (FlyBe) went out of business (they'd been in serious financial difficulty for a while, and I think reduced passneger numbers as a result of the outbreak were the final straw).
Aside from that, it's business as usual here. The schools are still open; I still go to social gatherings, play team sports and shop at the supermarkets (although pasta is getting hard to find!).
However, like me, many of my friends work in the travel and tourism industry (flight attendants, hotel staff, outdoor instructors, etc) in various countries around the world, so I'm somewhat concerned for them - they're at relatively high risk of contracting the virus, and it's an industry where they're likely to lose out on work and money. Some have already been forced to return home early from their winter ski seasons, due to guest cancellations etc, and others are having trouble arranging work for the upcoming summer season, as employers are still faced with a lot of uncertainty.

No, the virus does not only affect elderly people, but others too. If that were to be the case, this wouldn't even be that big of a deal globally. Since it is, everyone should cease travelling, wash their hands daily, especially keep their hygiene vigilant, also immunity!

I'm in the UK where things are just starting to get real for people. I work from home so my work life isn't affected, but all my social plans have been thrown for a loop as I'm practising social distancing. I usually help out at a local nature reserve but our group work sessions have been cancelled, but I have been going to the garden on the sunnier days to get me out of the house. I've been working on arranging to play video games with my brother to have more social time with him despite the distance and am doing more by way of keeping in touch with friends and family via chat platforms than usual.
