Here are two audio samples from an audio project I have in the works. On the second version, I have a -30Db noise filter applied. Is it worth the effort, or does there seem to be little difference on your speakers between the two versions?

(the second link is the one with the filter applied to the sample)

Please ignore the subject matter if you must (it's still SFW, regardless). It's a personal DIY audiobook project.

Any opinion on the quality of the audio material, and which sounds better would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I can hear very little difference between them. If anything, version 1 sounds a little clearer. They both have an annoying humming sound in the background.

it sucks that there's a humming sound. I'll adjust my "home recording area" (definitely not a studio), and see if that makes any improvements.

Thanks for the feedback, Sketchy.
