as of right now im using the 36 directions [or however many it is] for my characters aiming [always points at mouse] problem is, its not accurate enough. how do you rotate an objects angle to point at the mouse without changing the direction of the animation?

The answer I use:
- make sure that Automatic Rotations option for the object is enabled
- make sure that you have different Events that change the animation, as opposed to the orientation of the object itself
- use Sketchy's 360-degree shooting engine:

In particular, you want to use the "Mouse Aiming and Smooth Rotation" segment.

...I assume that your different directions indicate different weapons? The project you're talking about is the one with zillions of different types of guns, right? This might fix your issues.

Good luck to you!

Yep, thats the one. the directions are just the character pointing the gun in that direction, each animation is a different gun. its just when you shoot it doesnt shoot at the exact angle, alas the character only has 36 directions not 360 degrees which is what im going for. the link you provided is probably what i need but im on a 3ds right now so i cant download it.
