These whole modern 'emo' or 'scene' or whatever they call it hairstyles will always look incredibly silly and effeminate to me.
I suppose its what korean vets thought about those long haired hippies once upon a time, but I think the spirit behind it was entirely different (and better)

aw well, thats what I take from it

What's wrong with males choosing to look effeminate?

Besides, I don't think it's a great idea to base someone's desired social label or value system based on their hairstyle, that's the kind of attitude that ruined Charlie Chaplin's mustache. Not to mention comparing two entire groups (as well as combining two into one...?) of diverse individuals with various different ideas and values, which very well may mesh together in certain parts depending on the person.

On topic, I haven't watched anything from Smosh in a long time, but I always dug their stuff, didn't have much time to watch this one though.

Well it has to do with character and fiber- quality of personality. Anyone who is exhibiting a uniqueness or contrarian style to make a point or further a philosophy or so on, that earns my respect. But anyone who is caving into popular trends and pretensions without individual thought loses it. If gay men wore their hair to flaunt stereotypes and defy their naysayers, then power to them! But the guys who wear their hair like that are by large straight 12-18 year old males who are trying to impress girls by looking like Justin Bieber. It makes me want to slap them and drop them into the siberian wilderness naked with nothing but a machete. I have to say, I'm not a fan of pop culture or any of its trappings =/

I can agree with your distaste of pop culture, no problem with that, but it is tough to infer someone's intentions just by looking at them. Plus, the way someone looks has nothing to do with their sexual orientation.

I used to get really riled up about popular culture, but of course, as long as we have a world where the majority of people are either uncreative or morons, it will always be easy for people with enough money to sway them in any direction they please. And it's also good to point out that many people are just simply apathetic to certain tastes. For instance, with clothing, I'm sure you know many people that don't take the time to put together a particular style, they simply just buy random clothing and wear whatever the hell they feel like. Nothing wrong with that, clothing is just something they don't care to think about.

I could care less if the things I enjoy are popular or not, because I know my personal tastes are just that, personal, and the fact that I enjoy things that aren't popular makes them that much more unique and creative.

But of course, trying to dismantle the 'sheep' behavior is a lot like taking out mosquitoes. Sure, you can sit there and swat at each individual one, but more often than not, if you take one down, ten more will take it's place. However, if you take them down at their source (most often by taking down any standing water in the area), then you'll have a better chance of removing them. The source could be anything, from the media to the education system, from the government (might as well be the media) to society itself as a whole. Most likely a combination of all of those things, maybe even more.

Heh, well, we're both preaching to the choir my man, hear you on all counts. Personally I don't bother with it too much. If people want to be sheep, they can be sheep- its each individuals prerogative to be an individualist, and you can't force anything down anyones throat (never gone on that kidnapping spree to siberia yet). But it sure gets distracting when people wear the justin bieber hair, yech. Then again, I still have a MAD book from the 60's making fun of beatles wigs, so this all feels very cyclical

I know, not trying to argue with you, I'm just making sure, for lack of a better analogy, that if you're going to attack an enemy that you make sure to attack the correct one as effectively as possible. If I had based you off of your initial comment, I would've been confused about your true feelings, which I'm gathering is more about popular culture than just attacking a particular look.

I think this video, though geared towards the beiber fad, it works for pretty much any fad geared towards teenage girls.

I got around to watching the video from the OP, haha, ironic that it's kind of relevant to the recent conversation.
