So what actually happens when you enable the Change Resolution option?
Does it switch the resolution to whatever your game window size is?
Or does it pick a resolution like 640x480 or 800x600, whichever is closest to your game window size?
Cause my game window size is 683x350. And I've got Change Resolution enabled but can't tell what it has changed it to.

It chooses whatever is closest, depending on what your monitor can handle. 683x350 is a bad resolution because it's not native to any devices that I can think of. You should use standard resolutions like 640x480 and 800x600 as mentioned. Your game is probably scaling to 640x480 but if you take a screenshot you should be able to tell from the dimensions of the image.
