Greetings. It's that time again, so here we go.
Image
This is a screen capture of Tarmak 2. In this image you can see a cameo of a character that everyone should know. (Regardless if you pick him or not when playing the games he's from.)
He is a secret npc you can talk to and he will give you a good items if you go on mini quests for him. I don't remember if he reveals his true identity or not when you first talk to him. However it's clear this is an oringal sprite, he wasn't ripped or edited from a game. (Something I'd have a personal gripe with.)

Now here is my question; how do you guys feel about the above? I think it's cool, and it inspired me to try the same thing. I'm thinking about having cameos of some famous female characters. No edits or rips, all drawn in my style. I was also thinking about not using their real names, and/or change the names slightly. However, one look (if I drew them well enough), you should know who they are supposed to be.

Alternately, I could have no cameos at all and just use my own oringal character designs only. What do you think?

Yeah, cameos are always fun when they don't look like someone's doing it to be lazy. Only problem would be you could annoy some people who are fans and think that you didn't get the character right. And legal issues, but don't worry about that

In my opinion, every game needs a Blanka.

As long as you dont sell it, i doubt legal issues will be an issue at all .

What was that zelda-esque game? Future fantasy? Didn't it have some pretty amusing easter eggs/character cameos.

Thanks for the replies. So basicly people don't mind or enjoy cameos. That's good to hear. Here are two I just whipped up.

They aren't 100% faithful, meaning I could do better, but I am just 'remixing' sprites I already made and recoloring them to create something that looks close to a famous chaarcter. (Less work that way). Anyways, can you guess what game(s) they are from? Here is a hint; they are both in the same series.

Wow, no one guessed them yet? If you own a GBA or DS this series should totally be in your collection.
Maybe I'll post another one again later...

Edit: Well, no one got it so I guess I'll tell you; Sami and Nell from Advanced Wars. I can't believe no one here plays it, it's a great game.

Do you have a DS? You should try advanced wars days of ruin, if you haven't already. But yeah, they really should make a new one.
