So Yves just released the SWF File Exporter for Flash over at Clickteam.

No demo version, however the pricing seems extremely reasonable imho. $69, 59€, or 49£

Theres a whole list of "features and limitations" over in the forum:

I'd be psyched to hear what anyone who buys it, has to say about it. I plan on getting it when I have the money, anyone else?

just bought this, and I still have 17 minutes to download. I suppose this is the kick in the pants Clubsoft or Flava will need to allow flash embedding...

I bought it as soon as I heard the news. It's awesome, that's all there really is to say. Works exactly as expected.

I'm just about to buy it. That price is unbelievably good - I'm sure they could have charged more. Anyway, congratulations to Clickteam for eventually bringing this out!

I got flash working! My experience is not typical, but installing it caused mmf2 to stop loading, so I had to uninstall both flash and mmf2 and reinstall them both, and then run as administrator. Otherwise the thing is awesome! I think it weird that flash concerts everything to mp3 but I can't make mmf2 play mp3 through the sound object, so I'd have to take these Johan mp3s and convert them to ogg or something first.

So would the normal highscore object act like an online highscore?

just saw this thread so im just pasting what ive already written on the front page- no clue where a discussion takes place now:

ive to admit i am really excited its out already. i just saw the chat a few days ago and i was like OH WOW when will this come out and now BOOM we already got it! i thought they might release it in autumn or shit.

so it works with ANY version mmf 2?

also whatever happened to the java export of mmf 2- does it still exist and work fine now or whatever happened to it- you only get that for the very EXPENSIVE mmf version, right?

i am really looking forward to see people convert their games to Flash now and see what stuff we will get in the future. its all just so new now so lets see how this will all turn out and how maybe everybody of us starts to spam all those lame flash sites on the web. the clickers will take over.

I'm a little underwhelmed to be honest, but maybe I'm missing something - how is this any better than Java?

For two reasons. First, Java is miserably slow. Or at least it always has been for me. Secondly, Flash is much more prevalent, from game sites to ads to actual websites themselves. There's more opportunity for publishing mediums!

Those reasons aren't really enough to tempt me, but it leaves me with another question - Why did Clickteam bother with the Java version? What advantages does Java have over Flash?

It seems pretty pointless to release both a Java and Flash version - I'd have preferred it if Clickteam had just focused on one of them (don't care which) and made it work, instead of doing their usual thing of releasing a slew of bug-ridden "beta" versions.

I think the J2ME version was a good idea, but they were far too late releasing it, so it probably won't be long now before most phones support flash games.

btw: Java is not slow. If the klik games exported from MMF2 are slow, then that's Clickteam's fault.

ive just tried lobotomy and look how slow that one runs at certain points especially if he is landing its almost like there is zero gravity at some points and im on quite a fast machine and we are just talking about LOBOTOMY here which is very limited so i think if you want to do anything that ISNT a pong clone MMF won't really help you that much flash wise. also i think the problem is: MMF games will be TOO big
flash files are so freaking small since they use vectors. i think MMF converts all the graphics to PNGs blowing up the file size to ridiculous amounts. so i dont think we will be able to make SERIOUS flash games with mmf- only arcade knock offs we are all already sick of by now.

also what about the high score - does it work now or not?

I'm not sure how exactly Java is different to Flash runtime, but the Java one lets you change window size at least!

the difference is nobody uses java lol

no seriously there are millions of game sites which support flash and all little kids play flash games these days because it seems like flash turned out to be good for browser based office games and other time wasters while java probably never made it that far (not saying java is bad but almost 90% of browser games are done in flash).
so i guess thats the difference. also the way flash and java works are two completely different things as well of course.
