Recently I've tried uploading a game (Not a stand-alone) in a WINRAR folder, but no luck. Also I looked for a ZIP folder... ZIP. I would upload just the game but since it requires Directshow to play an MP3 I'm not sure I can do that. I uploaded it to Filefront in WINRAR format and When I DL'd it, I opened up the game file and it said "unknown format!" "Could not Open File." The MP3 worked just fine. (Stupid question alert! Approaching...) Would it be possible to DL JUST the game and still have the MP3 playing?

Sounds like a corrupted file. Although, I must admit that I'm not sure I understood 85% percent of your post. O_o

No... 95% O_o

What I mean is I added both files, an MMF2 document and an MP3 file, to A WINRAR document. (I would've done a ZIP folder instead but I couldn't find a way). Then I uploaded them to Filefront. I DL'd them to make sure that they worked. They didn't. So now I'm stuck with a problem, and NOW an MMF2 document that no longer opens! (You can skip this rant, it's of no importance) THE ORIGINAL FILE IS CORRUPTED! (****, I wish TDC had a Boiling over emoticon. <-- It was worth a shot.) I have shorter version of the game, But it's WAAAAAAAYYY smaller than my (Now dead) original file. (End of rant)

NEWAYZ if that didn't make sense, then let me condense it. What I'm saying is, I uploaded my files to filefront and the MMF2 document didn't open, Whilst the MP3 file DID.

Yay! The emoticon worked! I guess TDC DOES have one! Oh sorry. Let's get back on topic.

Well, first rule of game dev: BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP! I have a folder that I save an EXTRA copy of each project every time I do something, named with a date. Then, I back the entire hard drive up to an external drive. And I copy them to other computers occasionally. I too have been subject to killed projects. Sometimes more than once for the same project.

Anyway, from what I understand, it should make sense the the compressed version of the corrupted file is still corrupted. Unless you meant that you decompressed it over the original. In that case, you're in trouble.

BTW, WinRAR can make zips in the right-click context menu, or directly in WinRAR you can convert archives and select compression types.

'K. Thanx, I had a game that I thought got TOTALLY wiped out, The same day I finished it! It was back on the date, 12/15/06 if I remember right; I'm almost sure it was. two years LATER I found out by opening TGF and searching my computer I was able to find the game stand alone and open it with ALL FILES!

I was thrilled, as you can imagine.

Meh. The game was actually pretty crappy and bamboozled, but it was a game I Thoroughly enjoyed making, the most memorable game I've made, and the FIRST game I finished. The second one was for when my Sister broke her arm, back in early November 2007. It took just 4 days to complete a pretty simple game, but it was fair enough. LOL When my sister was rushed to the hospital I had to get the mattress off her loft bed. Wasn't easy.
