Just wondering. If you were to suddenly forget how to make games and have to begin learning a new game creation tool, would you choose MMF/TGF again?

MMF, GameMaker, Flash, Director, Blitz, C++..

I'd definitely choose GameMaker over MMF and learn Flash Actionscript at the same time.

I'd probably choose Flash. I have so bad memories about GameMaker that I will touch it never again x)

To be honest, probably BlitzMax and Flash, due to the sheer lack of control, options and plugins that using MMF / GM burdens you with.

I've been near Flash and studied it for quite a while, and I hate the bugger.

No interest in GM, just seems like an MMF clone. I would have taught myself C++ though. Instead I'm going to have to hire programmers.

I really don't think there's that much lack of control in MMF.

Yea MMF is very diverse and powerful. It can make games for most genres, just requires a lot more coding for RPGs and the likes.

Either MMF2 or C++.
I expressed my opinion on Flash for games quite a lot of times and I guess it's quite obvious, and GameMaker is hard to use and very limited.
Also I can't stand the BASIC syntax, or any BASIC language for that matter.

MMF. It has its problems, but it still gives the best results for the least amount of work. Unless you're planning to make something without an interface. I also kinda liked Adrift

I don't think I would come back to game making. I think I'm only still here because I have the developed skills. And 'course because the brilliant community.

Why would you pick GameMaker over MMF? GameMaker sux. I'd pick exactly the same path.

Gah, I'd definitely choose a real language over Flash. Like C++, maybe Blitz. I'd still use MMF though, simply because it's easy and quite quick.

Flash is horrible, an illogical mass of useful tools bundled together in one app. It can't decide whether it's a designer's tool or a coder's tool and ends up being mediocre at both. Don't get me wrong, it's powerful, but at the same time it's just plain bad.

MMF is like Lego. It's easy, quick, and you can build pretty cool stuff with it

C++ is not really good for amateur game design. It's like building something with wood, you need a lot of time to do it and it's almost never pretty. I also kinda learned Python and XML, but mostly to mod Civ4.

Hmm.. that's what I'd do if I had taken a different path... mod other games. I used to kinda do it when Age of Empires and Simcity 2K were the new trends.
