I'm kinda shitting myself right now. I just opened up my games folder to find that my game is gone. This happen to anyone else? After doing a search for it on the pc it's nowhere to be found. Yes I know, 'you must backup' and I'm kicking myself for not doing so. I backed up and month ago but still I’ve done a lot sicne. But how can a file just disappear? It's really annoying, and it's only happened one other time on my Mac when excel one day decided it'd had enough and left. With no explanation.

So yeah, anyone know of any data restore software that I could use. I mean it's still somewhere on my hard drive I just need to find it.

I also heard of something you can do in control panel that puts your pc back a couple of days... But yeah please help cos I feel like stabbing myself in the eye with a screw driver right now...

Yes, tried that and it says it cannot be found, then it disappeared off the list. It is also not a hidden file, I tried that too.

Use an un-erasing/un-deleting software tool, it will bring back your deleted files.

There's one.

Looks like you got a file system error, or someone pranking around. If it's a file system error, it might occur more in the future, because your hard disk MIGHT be dying out.

Windows, when prompted to restore its settings to a previous date, will erase newly created exe files. Possibly mfa files, too?

Yup, happened to me a long, long time ago. Well, not disappeared. It just crashed every time I wanted to load it. I got so annoyed that I never touched the game again. Now I keep at least 3 autobackups.

LOL, perrabyte.

Edwin, just out of interest - which software were you creating your project in? MMF2 or 1.5?

I used to get alot of very nasty things happen to my project files in Fusion 1 and TGF which drove me completely insane.

You have my sympathy but you know the answer already, "Save As" under a different file name every 30 minutes or so. Yes, you end up with ton's of files - send them to a ZIP (they squash down quite well, I find)

Good luck finding the file - but as someone else said, it may also be your HD failing.

You sir have just scared me enough to make another backup .cca file and save it on my flashdrive tonight, in case my house is suddenly submerged by a giant water source from methods unknown at this time.

I THINK I may have had my file disappear altogether once, but most of the time it's other weird little glitches that happen and I end up saving said glitches onto my sole copy of the .cca by accident. Right now I try to have one "real" cca, and two backup cca files that are named by date. Maybe you should do something similar and save them in different locations on your computer(s)?
