Lovely

But the sky on the desert looking level scares me, using a gradient, and the cactuses look kinda weird. Looks nice though in all

Aw man I LOVE that sorta graphics style, very rich, vibrant and solid

The problem with that sometimes is that things get confusing and hard to see? Like in that first picture, you can't really tell exactly what's going on and what things are what... like its hard to seperate your main character from the background and that flying enemy from the cactus'

I'm not sure quite how you could avoid that without ruining that sorta style though, unfortunately! I know you'll come up with something though? Great work so far, cant wait for this game.

The sky should look better once I add some clouds I think.

I agree, he's sort of hard to make out in the desert level. But he ended up being orangish. . . and the desert is orangish. As you can see from the ice level screenshot, he'll stand out better in the other levels.

I love ristar but I didn't really think of that when I was making him. I just started drawing a random animalish creature and it turned into that.

I don't refute any similarities Just don't expect loops and a sonic-like physics engine. . .

It looks great, nice and colourful and Ristar-ish.

BUT!

It's fairly hard to differenciate between backgrounds and foregrounds...

Hmm . . . If I get mmf2 I'll be adding layers which should make it easier to tell the difference between background and foreground. If I don't end up adding layers. . . well the other levels are easier to tell apart. . . I think

One way to distinct background between foreground is using a bit more mild colours in the background.
