So many people do this, it seems like such an easy thing to do but I just have no idea how to go about it. At all. What may be puzzling me, you might ask? Displaying graphic over video. I've been searching for ages and found nothing. Just people talking about camcorders and programming

Can it be done in Windows Movie Maker? Or something similar? Thanks for any help

In something like Final Cut or Premier you just add a layer and insert a still image (for transparency you have PNG (easy) or just chroma key for other file formats (easier than it sounds)) and stretch it out over the duration of the video. Just like Photoshop.

Dr. James... I like that!

If you're not able to this video for any reason then send me the raw footage and I'll compile it for you.

If you're looking for a sort of "animated" Photoshop, then After Effects is what you're looking for. But simple text should be pretty simple in any video editing software (Final Cut, Avid, Premiere).

Windows movie maker can display text over a video but little else.
