Does anyone know how to change midi volume in-game in Multimedia Fusion 2? Is there any extension that allows you to do so? Note that I tried the Mixer object and it didn't seem to work too well.

Yes. But don't do it, changing the user's MIDI settings is annoying as hell, especially because I keep my volume extra low (when using headphones, sound would be mind-numbinly loud if I didn't).

The mixer object should work, what's the problem? But if you use it, PLEASE keep the MIDI volume relative to the user's current settings, like keep the user's volume in a variable and use some simple math or something. And reset it to the user volume when ending the application.

"Didn't seem to work too well?". What do you mean by telling "too well?".

Maybe you should do some combination of playing files with MCI object and changing volume by mixer object (yes... that's crazy :---))? Unfortunately MCI doesn't have any command that gives access to MIDI volume :---(.

What I meant was that it seemed that using the Mixer object wasn't affecting the volume.

That's weird, because (I think) that object interfaces directly with the Windows volume control stuff. What are you doing exactly? Does the example that comes with it work?

In the old MMF you can use the Volume extension, which was apparently designed specifically to fix a problem with midi volume control on some computers. I don't know if it works with MMF2 (it doesn't on mine, but then even the ones that should work don't for me), but you can try it.

(the download from the clickteam extension list didn't seem to be working so I posted it here - you'll need to copy & paste the link btw)

I thought the mixer object didn't work with XP or something.

Thanks, I actually got it to work now though (just changed the wave volume instead of SW volume). And yes, I do have Windows Vista.
