A couple of peeps have tried out my game on their machines but were unable to play it.

The first said that the title screen screen was too big and couldn't scroll down to read the instructions... but he shouldn't need to do this as the intro screen (1024 x 768 pixels) isn't bigger than the screen... so anyway he couldn't test it.

My bro tried it on his new laptop but his mouse pointer just went to the right of the screen all the time. He will try it on his 'normal' PC later in the week.

I also tried the game on my 'other' computer running XP... works fine although the MIDI files were a lot louder than the WAV files... it wasn't like this before.

Is there anything I can do in the run-time set up of the game to eliminate problems like this, otherwise it will be a waste of time uploading it to the Click site for people to try out... cheers.

Hard to say, as we can't see the problem. Depends on how you've set up the sound, which extensions you've used, etc. You have a copy of the source code put up somewhere?

Not everyone has a screen resolution of higher than 1024x768, so that would be your first problem.
The thing about the midi/wav, could the sound settings/card be set differently on another computer?

1024 x 768 is not the best resolution to use for click games

I think that 1024x768 should be perfectly all right - I'd be surprised if anyone is running at a resolution lower than that.

It's difficult to say without actually looking at it, but it might be that you've used a font on the title screen that's only installed on your computer, and the text of the replacement font is too large to fit on the screen when played on other computers.

MID and WAV sound volumes are set separately in the Volume controls in the system tray - but I'm not sure if MMF uses these or sets them itself.

Wong, thanks for the comment... the Font could be an issue here as I have come across this before... should I include this with the game or maybe change it to something less obscure?

Both my machines have the WAV an SYNTH volume controls just below maximum, so I don't see why it should be different on one machine and not the other unless it's something to do with the soundcards.

Anyway I hope to have the game on the site very soon... Dave S.

I usually avoid using fonts that I'm not certain won't be on other machines, but if you include the font file in the game folder, it'll work... possibly.

I decided to take a snapshot image of the Intro screen and a few other bits that used the font, as the game didn't pick up it up in the application folder when I ran it.

I could have zipped it up with the game but it would have meant people messing about copying files.

The only time I switch to anything lower than 1024*768 is when I'm making GFX in TGF, ironically.
