From my experience so far, TGF is great for making 8 directions scrollers, but the platform engine isn't as hot. I've made several adventure games but now I'm really itching to finally make a platform game, my problem is that I want the character to move smoothly and be easy to control, otherwise the game will suck, no matter how good the rest is.

Has anyone figured out how to improve the platform-character's movement in any way? And most particularly, how to prevent him from wall-climbing? (if you make the left/right sides of the screen impossible to go through, it will be possible to climb all the way to the top by jumping repeatedly)

Thanks, I downloaded the .exe file and this movement is considerably better. However I can't open the .gam file so I can't look at how it's made...

When opening with TGF2 it says it's missing KCfloop.mfx (note that at this moment I'm only using the demo)
With TGF1 it says it's missing gffloop.gox

Thanks, that's very interesting and easy to understand.

I'm planning on using TGF2 to make my game - is the fast loop thing mandatory?

It's possible to do it without fastloops, but it's usually much better if they're used. It took me a while to understand exactly how to use them.

You're being very helpful, Phizzy. Are you feeling all right?

I don't use Fastloops, you can usually get the same effect by copying lines of events a few times.
But fastloop is better really.
