I want to make a program which modifies the positions of the icons on the desktop, but I can't figure out exactly where the icon positions are stored on XP. I looked around on Google Groups and came across 5 or 6 completely different answers to the same question. Some said there was a file called desktop.ini, some gave Registry locations, some said there was a hidden file with a .ds extension on the desktop, but when I checked, there was no such file. I saw some source codes for altering the position of desktop icons, but they were mostly for Visual Basic. I need a way with MMF, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knew how. Hope someone can help!

Thanks,
Dalal

Um... You can set icon size and spacing in the Screen properties window?

I think how the registry stores icon placements differs from windows to windows.

I only know the concrete answer to your question in win98, so no.
