Was gonna post in the E3 thread, but this game deserves its own thread; and heres why;

Spore is a procedural game designed by Will Wright (Sim City, The Sims Etc.) where you start as bacteria, and slowly evolve your creature up to a galactic overlord race (or a friendly race) thats the game in a sentence or two.

The real beauty of the game is that nearly everything is player made (Your creature, Buildings, Vehicles, Trees, Plants and Eventually Planets) creatures will walk & appear natural, no matter how crazy. And the game will learn your styles of play and download other creatures from other players (but not bid you in one on one competition)

It really has to be seen to be believed. 20 Minutes of concentrated awesome;

And for the impatient - PICS!

It looks bloody amazing. Oh, and if you have the time to download a 480 meg file, check out Joystiq's video: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/11/joystiq-video-wired-spore-event-featuring-will-wright-and-robi
It's the same as the one on Google, but has Robin Williams making his own creature at the end, plus a bit more interviewing.

This is what more developers should be doing, am I the only one that thinks we've got enough FPS and TPS games?

Anyway, i'm a huge fan of Sim City and The Sims, so i'll be getting it as soon as I can, unfortunately that isn't gonna be for another year or so

looks very impressive. Think it'd take up a lot of space though with all the alien and planet data and stuff.
