Why does windows assosiate text it doesnt know as a wingdings text why not times new roman?

It often depends on the font; I often get Times New Roman, not Wingdings, when someone sends me a doc that needs a font I don't have.

Yes.

It depends on what you set the default font to, too, actually. In my Office program it's set to Times New Roman, so any unknown fonts are replaced by his font. You might wanna check what the default font is, and replace it by something like Times New Roman.
