Ok, so i'll make a long story short for you people. I was just workin' away on my RPG battle engine when the power went out. When it came back, I started up my computer and opened MMF. When I went to open the file, it wasn't there. I searched my computer using Google search toolbar, it didn't find anything. I was too lazy to make a backup . Anyway, has this happened to anybody, and is there some secret backup of my file or something? PLEASE TELL ME I DIDN'T LOOSE IT 'CAUSE OF THE POWER LINES AND MY LAZINESS!

If you can't make enemy AI, just say so.

First off, ouch, that is crappy. Second, I don't think you've lost it, I've never made a backup in my life, and there have been plenty a times when the power has gone out and I'd been working on something in mmf, however; as long as you didn't just start the battle engine, and had saved it before, it'll probably still be on your computer, where you saved it. MMF does not just go and delete the file your working on because of power cutting out, unless you were saving while power went out of something, then it could be possible.

The only way there would be "secret" backups of the files, is if you set it via the MMF preferences thing, and well, to find those backups, if you had it activated, then consult your MMF preferences.

WHY DOESN'T ANYBODY BELIEVE ME? *Heavy breathing* stay calm ... Stay Calm ... STAY CALM! I'M GOING TO RIP MMF TO SHREDS THEN KILL YOU ALL FOR NOT TRUSTING ME THEN COMMIT SUISIDE, then maybe some tea...

EDIT: Hmm, now that I think about it, I had saved just before the power went out. Do you think that it was still in the process of saving when the power went out, making the file corrupted?

Well Peblo doesn't speak for all of us.

To be honest ive lost files before, I tried to burn tons of music files to a cd but the cd was a dud and didn't work, however the files dissapeared altogether from my computer. (i prbably cut them and pasted into the cd burn wizard)

anyway it's possible your file is corrupt to such an extent that windows doesn't even recognise it as a file and shows nothing. But would it become corrupted unless you were unlucky enough to be saving just as the power went out?

Finally somebody believes me. As I said, I did press the save button right before the power went out, so that is probably what happened.

That's what I was gonna say.

You see, there's a part of the harddisk where the file names and where they are on the disk are stored. If one of those 'pointers' has disappeared, the file's still on your hard disk... Just try to install as little as possible on your computer and put a file recoverer on your computer... Big chance you can still recover it.
