I'm wondering...are we too cruel to newbies...?

We have chased away a lot of new members because their games were...sorta bad. They also post in weird newbie-dialects that the common human can not understand. But the sad thing is, we should be helping them a bit more instead of frowning upon them.

Some of the Virtual-Causalities include 'Computer Overlord' (or Guido as he was once known), Rude Head (Going Bananas 1-5 ), and, most recently, Nuklear & happigamer, who I haven't seen around for a while.

So, what is your opinion? Should we continue bashin' up da newbies so they scream, run away, and never touch a click-product again? Or should we encourage a bit more...? Or maybe somewhere in between?

We were all stupid newbies at one time, youse know...

Actually, you see it happen in more forums. Phizzy should cut down with those wierd reactions at newbies, though, just like all of his fake clones.

I don't know who Rude Head was, but Guido was a complete douche and the Cox kids dissapeared a while ago and only came back recently, but if they didn't, who cares? You really think they contributed anything to the community?

I don't really agree with bashing n00b games unless they are hostile or try to hype them, but when they're retards they shouldn't be treated specially just because they're new.

On the flip side, we've had some really great newbies that were warmly welcomed. I don't think we treat anyone too harshly, it's just that we don't put up with stupid crap either.

I agree, if people act like idiots then they'll be treated like idiots.

Argh, why did you resurrect this subject, Lazarus!?

As Radix pointed out, the newbies who get attacked are the ones who act in a really stupid way. And it's not like they can say 'well we're new, how should we know?' - because their areas of stupidity are just common sense things.

Like the whole spelling thing. And over-hyping their games too.

I think the nature of game making is always going to attract idiots. They assume that creating a game is the same as playing one, that somehow the player magically moves without you needing to script or code anything. It's a kind of 'glamour' impression they have, like kids who yearn to go to Hollywood. They don't realise about the long hours, jet lag, and the sweltering heat under inches of makeup.

Im fairly new, and i find that everyone is nice enough, ive had nothing but help from people, then again i also resent the new comers who post previews of games that no one would ever want to read about let alone play, and ask questions that have nothing to do with coding and all they had to do was look at the options available.
Ive made several games, i think they are good but i know that they should't be posted cause everything i have done, everyone's seen many times before,
Im lurking in the shadows aquireing knowledge from the more aged Klickers and will eventually spring forth a game of mighty proportions.
Noobs are treated as they are, new and unknowing and some do need bringing down a peg or two.

Yep, you will only be treated like a n00b if you act like one.

Edit: I just said what Circy said...

I guess I see where everyone's coming from. Idiots are idiots- they must be treated as such.
Nuklear was an idiot...Gudio was an idiot.
But at least Nuklear was improving (game wise...yeah, a little bit).

@Coconut: He goes to a school for the special.
