Konami won't do 2d castlevania's anymore (or any 2d game anymore, wierd considering their horrible track record with 3d games). So the current producer of the Castlevania series needs our help. Sign this petition, and save 2d Castlevania (maybe).

Especially you Europeans, according to the producer, you guys hate 2d games. (bad sales in Europe)
Save 2D Castlevania, cause Konami can't figure out 3D.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is like the second best game ever (after FFVII). So I'll sign and I live in europe

All it says is that they aren't doing 2D Castlevanias for consoles (as opposed to handhelds) anymore. I didn't really expect them to anyway. So I'm not signing, because it's a silly petition.

I'd be happier if the next castlevania took a Shattered Soldier approach, cause I've played every 3D castlevania, and they ranged from explicitly shitty (the N64 ones) to the generically crappy (Lament of innocence).
And look at Konami's track record, they screwed up Contra with the PS1 3d versions, Shattered Soldier was great, and the most recent 3d Contra for the PS2 also sucked.
Anyone else see a pattern here?

Neo Contro was pretty much top-down 2D gameplay with 3D graphics though. It sucks because it's just not designed well. It'd be hilarious if they tried to make gradius have 3D gameplay though, it'd be a trainwreck...

Have you played Gradius 5? It's probably one of the greatest gradius games ever made. I'm glad they didn't screw with it in terms of game design.

Sorry for brining up an old but somthing jusyt really pissed me off. Castlevania on the N64 was good, i agree the 2d ones where better but i loved the N64 ones. plus they made some other fantastic games for the N64 like Mystical ninja 1 and 2, Hybrid heaven. these where fantastic games, they just kinda didnt sell well cause most of the gamers in Europe are the "lets go and buy the same football game each year" gamers.
I think the future for consoles can NOT be 2d games, this is now the handheld market, people wont buy a 2d game for consoles anymore (Bar very few exceptions) and sadly castvania isnt one of em.
The current market is children and the casual gamer and castlevania fits neither of these catagories anymore, its a game for fans of the original, it holds very few intuitive ideas and is more about style and gameplay which sadly doesnt make money and thats all the industy is about now, it makes me sick but its true.
Maybe if they got all the originals plus a new one, placed it on a SHITY ps2 disk and sold it at £19.99 or 2 for £30 like every other company does then maybe we would see it but i dont see that happening anytime soon, thats because all the kids and casual gamers would see it, look at the back and say "Look, they brought out the old snes games and are making us pay for it" and they would put it straight back, not realising that the £40 pounds they just spent on the new crappy EA game would be better spent on the castlvania box set and a good ol family bucket of KFC!

Yeah it was f*&*ing sweet, it was 3d but a 2d platfromer, fast paced but still like the original, trust me, if you can find it, BUY IT!
