Last night i went out and bought both "Resident Evil 4" and "MOH: European assault" for GameCube.
I wasnt sure wether or not id like RE4, mainly because I'd actually never played any of the previous titles in the series and didnt seem like my sorta game.
But i heard great things about it and good reviews so i thought i'll get it.
Anyway i was really surprised at how much this game kicks ass, graphically IMO best looking game this entire GEN out of ALL the consoles.
Gameplay is very unique and different to all other games ive played. Its like a 3rd-person Shooter/Adventure/Horror.
so far ive been playing it for about 5 hours, i havent even touched "MOH: European Assault" yet im that hooked on RE4.

So for those who own a GC/PS2 go out and get it!

It's probably a good thing you hadn't played the other RE games; they're nothing like RE4. In the Japanese version the section where you play as Ashley uses the old gameplay, but in the other releases it's just the same 2nd person perspective.

2nd person would be interesting idea, as i guess you would control the player character but see the action through the eyes of the enemy...

1st person = me
2nd person = you
3rd person = him

1st person game = You're basically 'in the game' itself, because you look through the eyes of the main character.
3rd person game = You control the main character (him).
2nd person game = Not possible

*cough*

Yeah its third-person, quite different to a normal shooter but they pull it off great.

I was going to buy Res 4 since it is one of the only game out at the moment i would even consider getting.
However there seems to be a shortage of copies around here so even second hand copies are £37.99. And the only place i found any were in Game. I don't want to pay full price for a game i'm not too sure about.(and im not as rich as i once was)

I've been meaning to buy Resi 4 for ages now, I currently lack the funds to buy it, but im starting a part time job soon so I will get it when I have the dosh. When it first came out here in the UK, Nintendo didnt produce enough copies of the game to satisfy demand, and it couldnt be bought anywhere, although now I see it in pretty much every games shop.

Regarding 2nd person, in the game Psychonauts you can use clairvoyance in order to see yourself through the eyes of others. Double Fine actually made different drawings of Raz, the main character, to represent how others see you. For instance, a compulsive talker sees you as a giant ear, while a maiden that slams her windows shut when you walk past sees you as a sleazy, trenchcoatted flasher. You actually need to use this power in a boss fight in the dark, where your opponent (a girl scout leader) has night vision, but you do not. Quite an interesting concept.

When talking about games, 2nd-person is a fixed shoulder cam when perspective (and trajectory and such) is calculated first-person but other aspects are treated as third. It's a different degree of removal than either 1st or 3rd.

You don't often hear the term 2nd person in games. It's always 1st or 3rd. Think of serious sam, you can switch between 1st and 3d person views.

I guess in 2nd person the actual charater model would get in your way unless the camera sits above their shoulder.
