hi, i've added an avi file to my game, but when i save it and send the "game (.exe) and AVI" in a setup file and get them to install it, it dont work, cos the file isn't in the right directory. And i tryed making the avi file path to "/theavifile.avi" but it says invalid file name. Does anyone kno how to setup the avi tool to make it get the avi from the pacific directory that my friend installs to, e.g some programs allow you to find a directory from a text document, please help me, i made a good game but it dont work.

Please!!!

You can use relative filenames in the setup box too, you just have to use . to indicate the same directory as the application, for example "./theavifile.avi". I only tried it with Direct Show but I see no reason why it wouldn't work with other objects too.

I think most extensions use \ and not / for dirs. Maybe the DirectX plugins are special...

Anyways if that works, you just saved me a lot of time.

/'s are only used for online stuff.

Thought as much. I think that DirectX reads files in internet syntax, or at least WMP.
