Not sure if anyone noticed, but lately the standerds for winning a GOTW poll have gotten alot lower. Lately less quality games have been elected for GOTW, only because no other games were good enough to knock them down. Now this GOTW might be a change because of Jonny RPG & I'm not saying there is nothing we can do about the GOTW standerds slipping, but I can still remember when games would win because they were as high qualitly as ED or SKS. Lately more poor quality games are winning, only because they are the only games available. We came down to basicly a clone of an already existing arcade game last GOTW (no offence at all I hope), but its getting kind of annoying to go into the GOTW to try to find a quality game, when the entire time your going back 3-4 pages, just to get to the real quality games. Entrence Gate perhaps? For being the 5,647 person prolly to say this, we could change this if we just put a smitch more effort into games, or perhaps limmiting the true quality games to the gotw, even if they existed in previous gotw polls & lost. Other then that, the standerds for winning a gotw poll are getting alot lower. Who all agrees?
I agree Brandon. But that's why it is called "Game Of The Week" - it's the best game of that week. The games that won arn't exactly bad - but to put them as the same rank as Eternal Daughter and Sim Sheep and great classic Klik games - doesn't seem right.
But we can't exactly get everybody to make brilliant games - there isn't much we can do, and at the end of the day - its the users of TDC who chose the GOTW. Like I said, not much can be done.
There needs to be an annual vote for games in the GOTW, a simple "Should this game be removed from the GOTW page? Yes or No" Then all the remaining games would be the ones that actually deserved the award.

@Buster: That would be a kind of discrimination to newbies(mostly they put trash stuff). We all start from trash then go up to become a good game-maker.
Recently the admins made a half-hearted attempt to improve content and have only started adding games with screenshots, good hosts etc. to GOTW. This would explain why there are less games being added, but to me the quality seems to have stayed around the same. OK, you may get glitches of three or four weeks with nothing interesting, but it happens.
This thread smells strongly of typical "OMG WTF THE COMMUNITY IS DYING"-ism.
Nah, it aint dying.
Just people can't be bothered with;
1)Taking screenshots
2)Writing a description
3)Getting a half decent host
4)Putting effort into the game
I try take screenshots, normally write a decent 'enough' description get a good host and most of the time put effort into the game/app... Because i'm a good boy
Most members get into the habit of doing that stuff eventually anyway, it's mainly just the noobs or hopeless retards that don't.
Anyway, I agree with all the people who made the point that the GOTW is the voted as the best game that week, just because it is an accolade shared by games of varying quality doesn't mean a crap GOTW and a good GOTW are considered in the same league. There were never any rules about quality concerning a GOTW nomination, only the criteria such as screenshots included, etc.
Totally agree with AsparagusTrevor, the GOTW is to honor those who followed the instruction and tried their best. Its the process that matters not the conclusion.
