Hey there everybody! This is my first attempt to actually build a game from 100% scratch using Games Factory Pro for anything other than a little bit of fun, so if you have any handy hints or want to get involved in any way I'd love to hear from you. Obviously 'abandon all hope' or 'use X maker instead' would be better unsaid, but any feedback is good at this stage

Very interesting project .

The artwork is nice - especially the girl in the mission briefing. I generally don't like vector graphics, but that's just a matter of taste, and these do look very professional.

I know you don't want suggestions of what software to use, but I do think TGF might be a bit limited for a project of this complexity - up to you though...

I've thought about doing some kind of combined boardgame / computer game myself - possibly even as a commercial project. You could give the software away, and then make your money by selling the boardgame / miniatures etc.
The advantage of using the software, would be that you could offer an AI opponent for single player games, and even have multiplayer online games. Plus it would contain extras like a mission editor, and allow you download more content easily.

Anyway, good luck with it all.

btw: If you want feedback on your game rules etc, try here: http://boardgamegeek.com/forum/26/boardgamegeek/board-game-design

Thanks for the link I'm planning on setting the game in the same world and with many of the same rules as the boardgame (which is already available at: www.cascadestudios.co.uk/stellarevolution ) but using a different system of play to that of the game itself. TGF is DEFFINATLY not going to be able to handle all the variables of a tactics rpg, which is the closest thing I can think of to the boardgame, whilst a more traditional and limited traditional RPG (no status effects, etc) may just be doable.

I figure the best way to go is to push an intensly personal experience in-setting for the player that would then lead them into playing the boardgame once they have a better understanding of what's going on and what each piece actually represents. That way it wouldn't feel like a promotional tool but its own entity (I hope!)

I agree though, a full-on boardgame with player AI would be awesome - if you ever decide to do one and fancy some graphics be sure to look me up
