Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
A blur feature
A copy/paste
A horizontal and vertical flip
A line tool
A line bend tool
A water reflect tool
A Glow option
Alpha Channels
and maybe transparent features?
Haha pretty basic but just in-case you didnt think of em! I'll favorite this to see how it works!
There's no point asking for stuff like that - those are features that belong in more of an "all-purpose" graphics editor, and it simply isn't going to be possible to create one of those to seriously rival MS Paint, let alone any serious apps (commercial or freeware), using any clickteam product.
Since it's for klik game graphics, it should be pixel art oriented, meaning it needs:
* excellent control over color selection and palettes
* well designed and/or configurable mouse interface (esp. Mousewheel)
* variable zoom and an "actual size" preview window
* basic drawing tools (straight/freehand line, flood fill)
* good selection tools (must be able to hold shift to add to selection)
* basic clipboard functions
* undo history
* .png file support
Also *hugely* useful:
* Edit -> Paste as transparent selection
* Tolerance setting on flood fill tool
* Magic wand tool
* Selection brush tool
Forget about anti-aliasing, filters, configurable brushes, layers, and any of that crap - it's not required for pixel art.
Hmm... a very good list there Sketchy.
That'll be helpful once I make a more serious editor.
I'm going to be exploring the MMF2 interface more often and see what it can do, so some of that stuff (maybe more than I think) will be plausible, perhaps even in some of the early versions. I'm making MMF2 my main game creation device. If I ever get familiar with it, I'm guessing that things should start happening quicker.
Thing is Sketchy, unless I find it real easy to implement, very little (if any) of that stuff will make it into this first version. There will be other versions though, I just want to get better at finishing things and polishing them up.
A simple paintbrush program is all this will be except the few features you guys mention that are easy enough to include in this first version.
That's the reason the placeholder title is "Window-Licker's PaintBrush".
It'll be closer to one of those kids drawing programs than anything probably and most likely usable only by short-bus riders, with the exception of some strange features thrown in to make it interesting.
It's my first attempt at a graphics program, so don't expect much just yet.
I'm not sure what you mean by configurable brushes, but there is a quick brush size selection already in it and I did plan on adding different shapes as well. I have worked out a very nice smooth curve of variable bend, but it'll probably be used for a re-incarnation of the project or in one of the later versions. I still have alot to learn before tackling a serious pixel editor I'm afraid, and the curve method I made will work nicely with those other features when I have most the knowledge I need.
Maybe at that point I could make something to compete with MS Paint at least, and possibly some of the professional editors if I'm lucky. Of course, for now I'm making it a simple drawing app with a few fun things thrown in.
That's about all it's going to be to start things off.
I'll step my way up gradually you see ... each subsequent editor will be better than the last, or at least that's the plan anyway. My plans don't usually work out so well unfortunately, so, yea ...
I want to polish each one seperately and make it look professional since I rarely do that kind of thing.
Each new editor will be its own project. This is simply my first one. Any features you guys suggest that are not placed in this first project will one day be placed in a later but better pixel editor project (maybe). Thank You

I see - so this is more of an experience gaining project rather than an app which people will actually use. That's fair enough.
I was just thinking that you can't compete in terms of functionality, so you should make the interface as good as possible (and MS Paint does leave a lot of room for improvement in that area).
I'm pleased to see you've finally moved on to MMF2 - I think you will like it.
What I meant by "configurable brushes", was being able to set the brush shape/angle/size/hardness/opacity/step/density etc. That's obviously not something you were considering though. With pixel art, all you really need is a single pixel line.
Funnily enough, the thing I still can't work out when making apps, is how to make the window maximize properly on all different screen resolutions.
Yes, it's just a practice thing. Pretty much what most my stuff is, but I'm going to try to give it a nice looking interface and polish it up so it looks nice and finished even if it doesn't have all the fancy tools.
I'm just going to make the playfield very large so that the user can stretch the window to whatever size they wish and have a huge drawing space available. I'd like to make the window size setting (after being stretched) able to be Saved, but I'm not sure how yet.
A minimal yet professional-looking interface is the plan which will allow for even more drawing space.
I could probably do most of that configurable brush stuff in some style or another, except step and density because i'm not quite sure what those mean in relation to drawing apps. Of course I won't do most of those because that's extra time spent on stuff that would rarely get used (at least by me) anyway. Brush shapes are easy so they may show up, and brush size i've done so it's nothing difficult really. I've also made an interesting angular drawing thing that turns the shape around a moveable pivot-point, so if that's what you mean by angle, it's doable.
If I get good from making these first half-dozen (more or less) drawing apps, I'd like to sell one that people will actually want to buy. I've plenty of ideas that never appear in these sort of programs, so I'm going to make them happen myself.

I was thinking something similar to GraphicsGale for the animating process if I ever get that far.
Currently I'm still working out different ways to make a line.
It's funny ya know, I have a bunch of wonderful tools already complete, and it's the simplest thing that I get stuck on.
