Smooth development, how I love it

An exclusive teaser for A Man With A Monocle will be featured in the Klikcast of August, to be released by this weekend so don't forget to check it out.

In other news, today was one of those days when everything went incredibly well.
I fixed the bug I mentioned in the last devlog, cleaned up the code a good bit, and optimized some corners of the game that were sucking a lot of memory. All this made the game run a lot smoother and made adding new content (like enemies for example) a huge lot easier too.
I added 3 new enemies, each one with different abilities and characteristics. I plan on adding at least 4 more, making it a total of 8 enemies.

Here's the new enemies:

Coming next (in order):
->Work on the level editor (add new backgrounds, edit ingame messages content, save levels with different names and make everything more user friendly)
->Add Ladders and moving platforms, new enemies and finish the tiles and backgrounds for the other worlds.
->Work on ingame menus and presentation
->Work on the sound of the game
->Start working on the levels
->Start beta testing phase
->Release !

I'm both impressed and confused by the fact that you are doing this in C++ instead of one of the klik interfaces. Won't it take longer to make in C++ than in MMF2?

Good Luck to you though. It's looking like it will get to saleable quality quite soon. Seems like you've progressed quite fast and TDC is lucky to have your skills helping to keep the site alive. Thank you Johnny.

Btw, you ask OMC if you could swipe his style? .. lol, I was convinced that this was OMC's project until I looked at the project owner name, and then I still wasn't sure ... did OMC give a helping hand in this?
He's pretty big on monocles you know.

Thanks guies !

MBK: Ahahah OMC did give a hand, he is helping through his constant morale injections.

About C++ and MMF2,that's true, if I had started this in MMF2, chances are I'd be closer to the last stages of development, but I couldn't release the game for the Mac and Linux, and possibly other platforms (Nintendo DS, PSP etc...). Also this way I have 100% control over everything from the root.

Oh and thanks, but it's not TDC that is lucky to have my skills, I am the one lucky to have TDC, the community helped me several times before (and still do, just take a look at this project page), and that's not something I'm willing to forget.

I feel bad that everyone keeps thinking this is my game. Especially when Johnny's programming skills beat the schnitzel out of mine. I wouldn't know the first thing to do with C++!

Loved the klikcast preview.

Ahah thanks, I'm flattered !

btw that preview could be a lot better, it was rushed and there's a few problems with the frame rate, but I'm glad you liked it.
