i finished a new zombie sprite. one problem though.

Image

the little bastard is huge!

he looks alot more menacing tho, and i might just end up making the rest of the sprites and the house alot bigger. this is the excuse i need to add a new wing to the house to fill it with all kinds of goodies, and make it alot more difficult to watch either side. its kind of funny watching the zombies try to get into the house now, being all huge and stuff.

i aslo added a black box that follows the frame and is transparant so it makes everything seem darker. when i update the gfx i want to just take the sponge tool and make everything a little more pale.

let me know what you guys think of the new sprite and how i can improve (keep in mind im adding cuts and blood to them, aswell as a face). iv got an idea for some special zombies, so stay tuned, cause ill need some input.

I'm very happy. :3 This isn't one of those *Make and forget* projects people often make. I'm amazed at how fast and nicely you work!^^ Good job and good luck!

Holy crap, that zombie is HUGE! lol! You can't really see his facial features though, it's like their blurred...kinda looks a little wierd. Glad you went with the torn pants, now you should just add a few blood droplets on the pants

yeah, im adding in the face later, along with the rest of the outfit, and im making them interchangable for random looking zombies and such.

Haha, "little bastard is huge". You should call the biggest enemy in the game a Little Bastard Zombie.

I'd say no to making it more pale; dark is good!

haha, thatd be pretty funny. i think the dark is okay... but i do have to redo the house, the shading is just terrible, and its too small. the guy also looks wierd.

I use that technique of having a black box follow the frame a lot in my games. By varying the semitransparency of the box you could make a day/night cycle kinda think which would be cool and twud seem appropriate for a zombie survival game... maybe more zombies come at night leaving you more time to recouperate during the day?

yeah i thought of adding something like that. i was debating leaving it night all the time, but i think i might be able to work in time and electrical power into the equation. as far as zombies showing up more at night might be possible to do. I already have it set up so that the more zombies that are around your house, the faster they'll show up untill it hits the cap (i havent quite determend that), then it zombies dont start showing up again untill you kill most of them. it needs some work, and i have to work around having the game slow down when there are more zombies around.

@mercer - i really think the orphanage is an awesome looking game! im honered to have you comment and approve of my project!

thanks for the comments guys!

do a real time clock! Just use the Date and Time object to find the real time in the world and use that to change the day and night. So it would vary when you play the game!

yeah, then the sleep factor might be easier to do. i think ill just have time go by at the same rate while your sleeping, so you are able to wake up when you need to, and possibly add kind of like a shift system while youre playing with two people, one person sleeps while the other stays awake.

just so you guys know, sleep isnt going to totally be like the sims (sleep everyday or your grouchy) itll be more realistic, like you can stay up for around 2 days, but eventually youll pass out and cant wake up. im gonna start working on that when i finish updating the gfx.

I have a suggestion I love zombie games, and zombies in general. So I was thinking that maybe you could add a couple of places to this guy where his skin is missing and bone/flesh is exposed. That would make him look a bit more zombie like I think

already done! lol, i actually lost this sprite beacause my computer crashed, but the new one is much nicer with blood and bones and stuff.
