Bad Object
Posted 31st Jul 08, by MJK
I was already thinking one day that what the hell - are we actually going to finish a long term project without our dear old friend, Bad Object.

Well just a moment ago he made a brief but powerful visit.

Luckily I've personally learnt my lessons already in like 1997 when I lost my biggest project up to then totally due to these random CT software crashes. God knows how much back up copies I have from this Malayalam project - it's a ridiculous amount of gigabytes. Must count it some day.

This time the bad object was actually a button! Usually, at least for me, they have been actives with many complex events tied to them, but this little button had just a couple of events. Weird.

I'll go back to previous save now and replace the object with a new button object, delete it, and see how it goes from there.

What is this bad object bug you speak of? Sounds terrible!

It's basically the most infamous bug of TGF/MMF, that Clickteam have tried to solve for years, but never succeeded. It has destroyed countless of relatively big projects during the years. Sometime, out of the blue, MMF corrupts an object. If you don't have proper methods of deleting that object from your project, it can very well corrupt your whole mfa. Nice, huh?

If you want more information on it, just search the new and old CT forums at http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ and http://www.clickteam.com/CTforum

OH boy. Good thing it was just a button.

Yeah, luckily so. But I've used to replace corrupted actives with hundreds of events with new actives, so...
